The Ten commandments, by themselves, are not Gods Perfect Law! They are not a complete expression of God's righteousness

Sabbath Keepers have an over inflated opinion of the 10 commandments calling the decalogue "Perfect". (The 10 commandments are never called perfect in scripture) They fail to realize that the 10 commandments are by themselves an incomplete law and God never intended the Jews or anyone to use them alone and they do not represent all of God's law.

*Sabbatarian argument:* The ten commandment law is a perfect law that contains everything man needs to know about moral living. Man does not need anything else but the Ten commandments to live perfectly. The 10 commandments constitute one's complete relationship with God and such constitutes God complete expression for righteousness.

*Answer:*

*A. Jesus is the complete expression of God's righteousness, not the 10 commandments!*

*B. Things the 10 commandments lack:*

*Did not condemn:* Drunkenness, obscene language, laziness, pride, pre-marital sex, homosexuality, bestiality.

Do not forbid brethren taking brethren to court. (1 Cor 6)

*Does not command:* forgiveness, repentance or helping the poor or Baptism or the Lord's supper.

The rich young ruler had kept the 10 commandments from his youth up, but Jesus said he lacked something even though he had kept the 10 commandments acceptably: Luke 18:18-23

It does not tell us about the kingdom of God or how to enter it.

There is no provision for forgiveness of sin therein. Hebrews 10:4

It permitted swearing, but Jesus forbade swearing: Matthew 5:32

*Four essential things lacking in 10 commandments:*

Acts 15:28-29 "For it seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us to lay upon you no greater burden than: these essentials: that you abstain from things sacrificed to idols and from blood and from things strangled and from fornication; if you keep yourselves free from such things, you will do well."

Jesus said that the ten commandments do not contain the two greatest moral commandments! Matthew 22:36-40 *Where do the ten commandments teach to love your enemies?*

 *Too bad for Sabbatarians:*

This would have been a great place for Jesus to quote the Sabbath law or at least one of the 10 commandments!

Matthew 22:36-40 "Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?" And He said to him, "'You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.' "This is the great and foremost commandment. "The second is like it, 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' "On these two commandments depend the whole Law and the Prophets."

*C. Never is the 10 commandment law called perfect:*

Eccl 12:13 says, "Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep His commandments: for this is the whole duty of man." As we have seen above, the 10 commandments lack many things, so as in the entire Bible, the expression, "His commandments" is far more than merely the 10 commandments!

Sabbatarians will sometimes quote Psalms 19:7-9 as a proof text that the 10 commandments are called perfect! But a simple reading of the passage proves our point that what is perfect is the sum of God's entire Old Testament law, including the ceremonial parts: "The law of the Lord is perfect, restoring the soul; The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple. The precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; The commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes. The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever; The judgments of the Lord are true; they are righteous altogether."

*D. Jesus VS. Sabbatarians:*

*Interesting that according to Sabbatarians:* the whole of the Moral law (Sabbatarians believe is the 10 commandments/ Law of God) hangs upon 2 ceremonial laws found in the book of the law. (Sabbatarians incorrectly believe the law of Moses was "ceremonial".)

Who will you believe?

*Sabbatarian theology:* The law and the prophets hangs on the ten commandments?

*Jesus' theology:*

The 10 commandments and the prophets hang on these two laws Matthews 22:40

We chose Jesus!
