Jesus Christ Is God Manifest in the Flesh: A Theological Declaration

By Dr. Maxwell Shimba | Shimba Theological Institute

One of the most profound and foundational truths of Christian theology is the divinity of Jesus Christ. He was not merely a prophet, a teacher, or a moral leader — He is God incarnate, the visible image of the invisible God. The Bible does not leave this truth to speculation; it declares it plainly and unapologetically.

Jesus Demands Equal Honor with God

In John 5:23, Jesus makes a striking statement:

“That all should honor the Son just as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him.”

This is no trivial claim. Jesus demands the same honor due to God Himself. No mere prophet in biblical history ever dared to ask for the same reverence given to Yahweh. Isaiah, Moses, David — none spoke such words. This alone establishes Jesus as far more than a human messenger. He is worthy of divine honor because He is divine.

Jesus Reveals Himself as the Visible Image of God

In John 14:9, Jesus answers Philip’s request to see the Father with these profound words:

“Anyone who has seen Me has seen the Father.”

This declaration confirms the Christian doctrine of the Incarnation — that God took on human flesh and walked among His creation in the person of Jesus Christ. He is the exact representation of God's being (Hebrews 1:3), not a reflection or a symbol, but God Himself made manifest.

The Biblical Witness to Christ’s Divinity

The testimony of Scripture, from the Gospels to the Epistles, consistently proclaims the deity of Christ:

  • John 1:1,14“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God… and the Word became flesh.”

  • Colossians 2:9“For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form.”

  • Titus 2:13“Looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ.”

Conclusion: The Only Name That Saves

Recognizing Jesus as God is not optional for those seeking salvation. As Jesus declared in John 8:24:

“If you do not believe that I am He, you will die in your sins.”

At Shimba Theological Institute, we boldly affirm this eternal truth: Jesus Christ is the living God, the eternal Word, the sinless Savior, and the only hope for mankind.

To reject His divinity is to reject God Himself.

Believe in Him today — and you shall live.
