The teachings of Muhammad are binding on all Muslims. In fact, to reject the teachings of Muhammad is to reject Allah.
Surah 4:80: He who obeys the Messenger has obeyed Allah, but those who turn away – We have not sent you over them as a guardian. (Sahih International)
We will now consider some of the teachings of Muhammad. In some mysterious way, Muhammad discovered the secret place where the Jinns and Devils visit regularly. And he warns his faithful followers of this unseen danger lurking in their homes.
Sunan Abu Dawud, Book 1, Number 0006:
Narrated Zayd ibn Arqam: The Apostle of Allah (pbuh) said: These privies are frequented by the jinns and devils. So when anyone amongst you goes there, he should say: “I seek refuge in Allah from the male and female devils.”
Muslims not only take this teaching of Muhammad seriously but they also act upon it. Accordingly, pious Muslims recite a special prayer in Arabic before entering the toilet. Well, what is the purpose of these Jinns and Devils to frequent the toilets of the Muslims? Is it to answer the call of nature or to spook the residence? Well, the Prophet of Islam does not tell us why. What is puzzling is that since Jinns and Devils are invisible, do they really need the privacy? Also imagine the consequence of Muslim parents sharing these teachings of Muhammad with their children. Let us now consider how the Jinns sought the help of Muhammad. They wanted Muhammad to stop the Muslims from ruining their appetite.
Sunan Abu-Dawud, Book 1, Hadith 0039:
Narrated by Abdullah ibn Mas’ud: A deputation of the jinn came to the Prophet (peace be upon him) and said: O Muhammad, forbid your community to clean themselves with a bone or dung or charcoal, for in them Allah has provided sustenance for us. So the Prophet (peace be upon him) forbade them to do so.
A delegation of Jinns entreated Muhammad to prohibit his followers from using “bone or dung or charcoal” to cleanse themselves after answering the call of nature. Why? It is because Allah has apportioned the bones, dung and charcoal as sustenance for the Jinns. Following the visitation by the delegation of Jinns, Muhammad warned his followers.
Tirmidhi, Hadith Number 350:
Allah’s Messenger said: Do not cleanse yourself with dung or with bones for that is the food of your brothers from amongst the Jinn.
Besides forbidding the Muslims from using dung or bones, Muhammad also revealed that some Jinns are the brothers of the Muslims. Muslims and Jinns are kindred! This explains the carnage we are experiencing worldwide. According to the Qur’an, Allah commanded the mighty Jinns to build palaces and other majestic buildings for King Solomon:
Surah 34:12-13: We subjected the wind to Solomon; its morning course was a month and its evening course a month; and We caused a fount of molten copper to flow for him. And of the jinn there were some who worked under him, by the command of his Lord. If any one of them turned away from Our command, We would make him taste the punishment of the burning fire. They made for him whatever he desired: palaces and statues, basins like reservoirs, and large cooking vessels fixed in their places. (W. Khan)
Now picture these mighty Jinns eating dung during their work-break. Amazingly, these Jinns did not want their dung food to be contaminated by the dung of the Muslims. Even Jinns have their standard. As for Muhammad, he faithfully submitted to the demands of the Jinns. He no longer wiped himself with dung or bones after answering the call of nature. What is the next best thing after dung and bones?
Sahih Bukhari, Volume 1, Book 4, Number 157:
Narrated Abu Huraira: I followed the Prophet while he was going out to answer the call of nature. He used not to look this way or that. So, when I approached near him he said to me, “Fetch for me some stones for cleaning the privates parts (or said something similar), and do not bring a bone or a piece of dung.” So I brought the stones in the corner of my garment and placed them by his side and I then went away from him. When he finished from answering the call of nature, he used them.
Muhammad used stones to clean his private parts. Unbelievably, all this primitive stone wiping practice was still being carried out by the early Muslims when the Chinese had already invented papers centuries earlier. And Muslims have the audacity to say that Mecca is the center of the Universe. But there is more! In Islam, cleansing oneself after defecating is not as simple as you may think. Precision is everything. It matters to Allah. Listen carefully to the stern warning of Muhammad.
Sahih Bukhari, Volume 1, Book 4, Number 162:
Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, “Whoever performs ablution should clean his nose with water by putting the water in it and then blowing it out, and whoever cleans his private parts with stones should do it with odd number of stones.”
Every normal human being will be puzzled by this teaching of Muhammad. Not only is this teaching weird but also senseless. However, Muslims will find this teaching inspirational. They will defend the absurdity of Muhammad no matter what. Therefore, do not be surprised if you hear one of the following counter-arguments from Muslim apologists in defense of Muhammad:
Even when it comes to cleansing himself after defecating, Muhammad was careful not to off-set the delicate balance of nature. How did a person living in the Seventh Century know this?
Only a true prophet would have known the dangerous ripple effect on the cosmos if Muslims failed to use the prescribed number of stones to wipe themselves.
Only a true prophet would have known that just a minute miscalculation of the number of stones is enough for Shaitan to destroy the faith of the Muslims.
Only a true prophet would have known that wiping with the wrong number of stones would adversely affect the eternal salvation of the Muslims.
Now for their favorite closing argument:
“Allah knows best.”
Let’s get back into business. Why must it be an odd number of stones? The difference between odd and even is just a single stone. Therefore, in what way will the adding or the subtracting of a single stone affect the salvation of Muslims, especially when its purpose is just to clean one’s private parts? This teaching of Muhammad does not make any sense at all unless we view it in the light of the pagan practice of numerology. Numerology is the science of the occult and it is associated with astrology and divination. The practice of numerology was prevalent among the pre-Islamic tribes of Arabia. And Islamic sources themselves acknowledge that Muhammad was a pagan before his calling as a Prophet of Islam. This clearly proves that the teachings of paganism still had a strong influence on him. He could not break free from the superstitious beliefs of the pagans.
Submitting to the God of Abraham means separating oneself from all forms of superstition. However, Muhammad held on to the beliefs of the pre-Islamic pagans. In fact, some prominent Muslim scholars base their claim for the miraculous nature of the Qur’an on the concept of numerology. Even though Muslims pride themselves that Islam is an Abrahamic religion, they fail to see the extremely superstitious nature of their Prophet. The belief in superstition influenced many of his teachings. The following is a classic example.
Sahih Bukhari, Volume 2, Book 18, Number 167:
Narrated Abu Musa: The sun eclipsed and the Prophet got up, being afraid that it might be the Hour (i.e. Day of Judgment).
The eclipse of the sun is a natural phenomenon caused by the movements of the heavenly bodies. It is common knowledge that eclipses occurs at regular intervals when the moon passes between the earth and the sun. It is also a predictable phenomenon. Eclipses come and eclipses go and the world goes on. However, primitive pagans became terrified whenever they witness a solar eclipse. This fear stems from ignorance and superstition. But, why did Muhammad manifest a similar fear like the pagans? It is because just like the primitive pagans, he too was ignorant and superstitious. A true prophet would have known the truth.
While we are on the subject of stones, it is amusing to note that Islam is the only religion where after kissing a stone, its followers pick up stones to stone a stone representing the Devil. Muhammad also taught that some Jinns could transform themselves into snakes.
Sunan Abu Dawud, Book 41, Number 5236:
Narrated AbuSa’id al-Khudri: “…He then came back and told us that he heard AbuSa’id al-Khudri say: The Apostle of Allah (pbuh) said: Some snakes are jinn; so when anyone sees one of them in his house, he should give it a warning three times. If it returns after that, he should kill it, for it is a devil.”
We can go on citing many more examples of such absurd teachings of Muhammad. However, this is sufficient to measure Muhammad. It is either all or nothing. If you accept Islam as true, then you must also accept all these absurdities that go along with it as true. And the cost is your salvation. Do you think it is still wise to remain in Islam?
