Seventh Day Adventism is Fatally Flawed!

Seventh Day Adventism is a religious group founded by Ellen G. White, whom they consider a prophetess. They especially magnify the Saturday Sabbath command given to Israel. Regarding the Lord Jesus Christ, they wrongly teach Jesus is Michael the archangel (like Jehovah's Witnesses do), but the Seventh Day Adventists believe in his deity, unlike the JWs who wrongly deny the deity of Jesus Christ! In other words, the Seventh Day Adventists believe Michael the archangel is God!

The writings of Ellen G. White, their prophetess, are of extreme importance to them. Those same writings display her heretical and dangerous views of the mark of the beast and distort the atonement.

Strange as it might sound to Christians, Seventh Day Adventists think Sunday worship is the mark of the beast in the bible! The sinister effects of that single doctrinal error will not be manifested until the real mark of the beast is revealed, but its identity will be hidden from them because they have been taught the mark of the beast is something totally different!

Furthermore, they imply from their errant doctrinal view that if someone takes the mark of the beast, he can afterwards repent and be saved. That too is dangerous, for that is NOT the message of God delivered through the third angel in Revelation.

To learn who the real Michael the archangel is, is very important to millions of people! Why? Because the Jehovah's Witnesses and Seventh Day Adventists both wrongly believe Michael the archangel is Jesus Christ! While the Seventh Day Adventists believe Michael is deity, the Jehovah's Witnesses adamantly oppose that concept, even to the point of denying Jesus was ever prayed to or worshiped! SHOCKING and sad, but true!

 So, is Jesus Michael the archangel, based on scripture or not? If Jesus isn't Michael the archangel, why do some teach that he is and how can Christians help them with this serious error?

There Are Only Five Biblical References to Michael the archangel

Michael the archangel is only referred to on five different occasions throughout the entire Bible. They are:

But the prince of the Persian kingdom resisted me twenty-one days. Then Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, because I was detained there with the king of Persia. (Dan 10:13)

but first I will tell you what is written in the Book of Truth. (No one supports me against them except Michael, your prince. (Dan 10:21)

At that time Michael, the great prince who protects your people, will arise. There will be a time of distress such as has not happened from the beginning of nations until then. But at that time your people--everyone whose name is found written in the book --will be delivered. (Dan 12:1)

But even the archangel Michael, when he was disputing with the devil about the body of Moses, did not dare to bring a slanderous accusation against him, but said, "The Lord rebuke you!" (Jude 1:9)

And there was war in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought back. (Rev 12:7)

NOTE: Michael is NOT the only archangel (Dan 10:13)! Michael is only one of the chief princes! That truth automatically refutes the Jehovah's Witness belief that Jesus is Michael the archangel and Jehovah's greatest creation. How does it do that? Because there are other archangels and not just one, even though Michael is the only one specifically named. The other archangels are equal to Michael and Michael can't, therefore, be the greatest.

Michael the archangel was the protecting archangel over Israel in Daniel's time. Michael is always shown as a warring angel. Those are the details from those five passages, but NONE can be correctly connected to the Lord Jesus Christ as you can see. Jude 9 shows how differently Michael the archangel dealt with the devil, saying "The Lord rebuke you" to how the Lord Jesus dealt with him quoting scripture and commanding him to leave. (Mt. 4:3-11).

ONLY Two Times Archangel Is Found in the Bible

The only times archangel is used are here:

For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. (1 Th 4:16)

But even the archangel Michael, when he was disputing with the devil about the body of Moses, did not dare to bring a slanderous accusation against him, but said, "The Lord rebuke you!" (Jude 1:9)

Similarly, in neither of those two verses is the Lord Jesus shown to be Michael the archangel! While those verses have been used to teach that fallacious interpretation, it has been done wrongly to the detriment of others. 1 Thess. 4:16 states the Lord (Jesus) will come from heaven WITH the voice of the archangel. Which archangel will be coming with Jesus when he returns? We don't know, since there are more than one (Dan 10:13).

NOTE: Jesus will return with angels (Mt. 24:30,31), but we don't know if Michael will be there at all! Jesus is also coming WITH the trumpet call of God (1 Thess. 4:16). If Jesus coming WITH the voice of an archangel (1 Thess. 4:16) makes him an archangel, then he is also a TRUMPET, because he is also coming with the trumpet call of God! Can you see how baseless and inconsistent such argumentations from the Jehovah's Witnesses and or the Seventh Day Adventists are?

That is all they have! There are no other verses citing Michael or the word archangel! Those scriptures are being misused and read into to teach Jesus is Michael the archangel to the harm of SOULS. Only a preconceived indoctrination of such a belief could possibly interpret any of the aforementioned verses that way. Jesus is not identified as Michael in any of those verses (or in any other way).

Was Jesus Michael the Archangel BEFORE coming to Earth?

The answer to that question is important, because if Jesus was not Michael before coming to earth, then millions of people have a dangerous view of the Savior! The apostle John told us Jesus was the Word before he came to earth (John 1:1,14). John didn't say he was Michael.

John also told us the Word is God (John 1:1). Since the Word is God (John 1:1) and God is not an archangel, then Jesus (the Word) can't be Michael the archangel. That is basic reasoning from the scriptures. Again, NEVER is Jesus shown to be Michael, before (or after) coming to earth! In fact, Jesus created everything visible and invisible (that is all archangels) in heaven and earth. The archangels were created by Jesus and for Jesus (Col. 1:16).

Was Jesus Michael the Archangel AFTER His Return To Heaven?

Jesus identifies himself as Jesus (and other names and titles) but NEVER Michael. Notice what Jesus wanted us to believe about himself:

Who are you, Lord?" Saul asked. "I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting," he replied. "Now get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do." (Acts 9:5,6)

"I, Jesus, have sent my angel to give you this testimony for the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, and the bright Morning Star." (Rev 22:16)

QUESTION: So WHY didn't he say he was Michael instead of Jesus? It's because he isn't Michael and never has been. Likewise, various New Testament writers identified the ascended Lord by many different names and titles, but NEVER as Michael. Jesus' many names and titles reflect his vital significance in all spiritual matters, but of the one hundred plus, NONE are ever Michael!

What Is The Real Gospel Of Jesus Christ

It is IMPOSSIBLE For Jesus to Be Michael The Archangel

Besides lacking clear evidence for the Jesus Michael doctrine, Hebrews chapter 1 categorically shows Jesus as someone who is superior and better than any of the angels in eight different ways! That forever clinches it! It is impossible for Jesus to be Michael the archangel, according to God's word. The Jesus Michael belief is not only baseless it is a direct strike against Hebrews chapter 1 to teach like that. It also conflicts with many other verses revealing Jesus' deity. [The humanity of Jesus Christ does NOT cancel out his deity anymore than him being the good shepherd cancels out him being the Lamb of God. See The Humanity Of Christ.] Clearly what the Jehovah's Witnesses teach, that is, Jesus is Michael the archangel, is mythical. (See image to the right.):

Who Is Jesus Christ Really?

To answer the question who is Jesus Christ, we must consider the whole bible and especially Jesus' voluminous names and titles, with none mentioning him as Michael or an archangel.

Angels are NOT Prayed To or Worshiped But Jesus Is

Moreover, if Jesus was Michael the archangel, he should NOT be worshiped and prayed to, but Jesus was! That is a double edged sword showing indirectly he couldn't be Michael the archangel, but instead someone much more important who is worshiped and prayed to. Jesus was also trusted in exclusively for salvation by early Christians (Mt. 11:28-30; Acts 16:30,31; 7:59; John 3:16; etc.), he is the one they followed (John 10:27) and they got eternal life because they personally had him (1 John 5:12). In fact, Jesus is eternal life (1 John 1:2)!

Is God's Name Jehovah?

Jesus Was PRAYED TO

While they were stoning him, Stephen prayed, "Lord Jesus, receive my spirit." (Acts 7:59)

NOTE: Stephen was in the truth, and clearly prayed TO Jesus, as Jesus taught in John 14:14. Others in the early church also prayed TO Jesus (Acts 9:14; 1 Cor. 1:2; etc.), but Jehovah's Witnesses won't do that.

The Angel of Rev. 1:1 is NOT Jesus

On rare occasions Jehovah's Witnesses will even try to make Rev. 1:1 teach Jesus is an angel. That verse says:

The revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show his servants what must soon take place. He [Jesus] made it known by sending his angel to his servant John, (Rev 1:1)

Rev. 22:16 is the answer for the Jehovah's Witnesses who MISuse Rev. 1:1 to WRONGLY say Jesus is merely an "angel." Jesus is NOT an "angel" and therefore NOT that "angel" of Rev. 1:1. Jesus sent his "angel" to communicate to the churches:

"I, Jesus, have sent my angel to give you this testimony for the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, and the bright Morning Star." (Rev 22:16)

Jesus Was WORSHIPED and Can't be Michael The Archangel

And again, when God brings his firstborn into the world, he says, "Let all God's angels worship him." (Heb 1:6)

Since all of God's angels worship Jesus, then Michael the archangel worships Jesus. Therefore Jesus can't be Michael the archangel. Also, the Greek word for worship in Heb. 1:6 is also found in Luke 4:8 and is what is given to God (but also to Jesus by the angels of God as commanded). Jesus did repeatedly receive worship (Mt. 14:33; 28:9, 17; etc.). Therefore, Jesus is shown, again, to not be an angel. Again, Jesus is worshiped by God's angels and Christians, unlike the angels of God who do not receive worship (Rev. 19;9,10; 22:8,9). Besides all of that, Jesus receives equal praise and worship with the Father from every creature in heaven:

Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all that is in them, singing: "To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be praise and honor and glory and power, for ever and ever!" The four living creatures said, "Amen," and the elders fell down and worshiped. (Rev 5:13,14)

The conclusion is clear and overwhelming. Though Jesus is taught as being Michael the archangel by the Jehovah's Witnesses and Seventh Day Adventists, they have done so in violation and neglect of the scriptural evidence.

So, who is Michael the archangel? He is a warring angel, a chief angel and one of the angelic princes. Michael the archangel was created by and for Jesus Christ (Col. 1:16). Michael the archangel is not Jesus Christ, based on scripture. To teach Jesus Christ is Michael the archangel is to downgrade the Lord Jesus as well as be in dangerous error.

Nothing in Scripture Pointedly Says
Jesus is Michael The Archangel

There is nothing in the bible which pointedly states Jesus is Michael the archangel. Such a belief is only inferred by a misuse of scripture and logic. Jesus is never called Michael either before or after coming to earth. Before coming to earth he was the Word (Jn. 1:1; 1:14) and after Jesus (Rev. 22:16). Jesus is never called Michael, even though Jesus has 100+ names and titles throughout the NT. For anyone to teach Jesus is Michael is to do so in error, even though non-related scripture references may be cited and read into for such a faulty conclusion! Remember, even the devil can misapply scripture (Lk. 4:10,11)!

Christ is the End of the Law of Moses

We are no longer under the law of Moses. We are no longer bound to remember, rest, or worship on the Sabbath day. The 10 commandments, (the covenant) is no longer in force. Jesus redeemed us from the curse of the law, and nailed it to the cross. Those who desire to be under the law are bound to keep the whole law, and failure to do so makes them guilty of all of it. If righteousness came by the law, then Christ died in vain. Those who justify themselves by the Law of Moses have fallen from grace, for Christ is the end of the law.

Today, we are under the perfect law of liberty, the law of Christ. Christ’s law states we must preach the Word of God in season, and out of season. We must speak only what the bible speaks, and be silent where the bible is silent. We must worship on Sunday, and attend the church Christ built, the church of Christ.We must remember the Lord’s death each first day of the week. We must sing, and make music in the heart to the Lord, and not with instruments. We must sing, and pray with the Spirit, and understanding. We must obey the gospel of Christ, and remain faithful until death.  If there be any other that the law of Christ contains, it is fulfilled with this: That we love one another as Christ also loved us. If we believe in the Man, we must also obey His plan, the man Christ Jesus.

The Sabbath Was Abolished By Jesus Christ

How often many will pick up a bible and think that there is no difference between the old testament and the new testament. How often do many religions today fail to understand that Christians are not to obey the old testament laws. They fail to realize that the old testament was written for our learning to bring us to Christ, for it testifies of him. Rom 15:4 f; Jn 9:31 Many fail to understand that the law of Moses has been taken out of the way, and nailed to the cross of Jesus. Col 2:14 Those who don’t understand that Christ was the end of the law of Moses will often worship on Saturday instead of Sunday. Rom 10:4 Let us examine in some detail what the scriptures tell us about the Sabbath.

Moses’ Law (10 Commandments Included) Has Been Done Away In Christ

The 10 Commandments were written and engraved on stones. Ex 32:15,16 The new covenant of Christ, on the other hand, was “written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in tables that are hearts of flesh” 2 Cor. 3:3 Furthermore, what was written on stone (the 10 Commandments), was a killing law, i.e., led to death because of human disobedience, while the new covenant of the Spirit is a life-giving ministration 2 Cor. 3:7 In that same context, Paul says that this old covenant has passed away; it has been replaced by that which possesses a greater and superior glory 2 Cor.3:11 The law of Moses has been abolished: “. . . having abolished in the flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; that he might create in himself of the two one new man, so making peace Eph. 2:15 Christ, through his cross, “blotted out the bond written in ordinances” of the old law:” “Having blotted out the bond written in ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us: and he has taken it out of the way, nailing it to the cross” Col. 2:14 The Sabbath law, along with the rest of Moses’ law, was taken away by the cross of Jesus.

The Sabbath Law Was Given To Hebrews Only

The Sabbath was given to the Hebrews to help them remember their own experience in Egypt: “And you shall remember that you were a servant in the land of Egypt, and Jehovah thy God brought you out from there by a mighty hand, and by an outstretched arm: therefore Jehovah your God commanded you to keep the Sabbath day” Deut. 5:15 It was a unique sign between God and the children of Israel: “Wherefore the children of Israel shall keep the Sabbath, to observe the Sabbath through-out their generations, for a perpetual covenant. It is a sign between me and the children of Israel for ever: for in six days Jehovah made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was refreshed” Exod. 31:16-17 The Jews were to remember the Passover on the Sabbath, even as Christian are to remember the Lord’s death on Sunday. The Sabbath was never for Gentiles, nor was it ever practiced by the church.

The Sabbath Law Was Formally Given At Sinai And Not At The Creation

The Sabbath law was first mentioned when God fed Israel with manna from heaven, and was formally given by Moses to Israel at Sinai. Nehemiah states: Ex 16 “You came down also upon mount Sinai, and spoke with them from heaven, and gave them right ordinances and true laws, good statutes and commandments, and made known unto them thy holy Sabbath, and commanded them commandments, and statutes, and a law, by Moses your servant” Neh. 9:13-14 Moses, who revealed the Sabbath to the people at Sinai, explained its having been “hallowed” by God in his narrative about the creation in Genesis 2:1-3. However, is noteworthy that none of the patriarchs (Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, etc.) ever observed the Sabbath. It is because God never established it with them, but rather with Israel after they escaped Egypt, crossed the Red Sea, and entered into the wilderness. Moses wrote, “The Lord made not this covenant with our fathers, but with us, even us, who are all of us here alive this day.” Deut 5:3

Sabbath Observance Was Forbidden To Gentile Christians

Paul warned Christians not to be entangled again in a yoke of bondage Gal. 5:1, but to continue in the freedom from the law of Moses which Jesus had wrought upon the cross. Since circumcision was the main issue in Galatians, other facts are often ignored, such as his condemnation of observance of the Jewish holy days: “You observe days, and months, and seasons, and years. I am afraid of you, lest by any means I have bestowed labor upon you in vain” Gal. 4:10-11 The Sabbath was one of those Jewish holy days to which he makes reference. Paul feared that, just as these Gentiles had once been servants of idolatrous gods, they would now serve the false apostles who had invaded their number, make themselves subservient to the entire law, and ultimately sever themselves from Christ and his grace.

Christians Are Not To Be Judged By Jewish Laws

Paul stated it clearly when he said, “Let no man, therefore, judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of a feast day or a new moon or a Sabbath day: which are a shadow of the things to come; but the body is Christ’s” Col. 2:16-17 If we are judged by Christ according to his gospel, and we shall become the judgment, then it is conclusive that the Sabbath is not a part of the gospel of Christ. Rom 2:16 If any preaches any other gospel, they shall be accursed. Gal 1:6-9 Anyone who justifies themselves by the law of Moses has fallen from grace. Gal 5:4

Christians Are To Worship On Sunday

This was the day of our Lord’s resurrection John 20:1 It was the day upon which early Christians assembled to worship and commemorate the Lord’s death and resurrection Acts 20:7 On this same day they gave of their means 1 Cor. 16:1-2. In the Old Testament, the Sabbath was a day of holy convocation and assembly Lev. 23:3  New Testament Christians were never seen observing this day or meeting in such convocations, except to teach and convert Jews in the Synagogue to Christianity. Christians worshiped on Sunday since the Sabbath celebration ended for them with the Lord’s death on the cross. Sunday was the day we remember the Lord’s death, and the great sacrifice that he gave for us that we might have eternal life.1 Cor 11:24-26

Mwisho wa ajabu wa maisha yake ulisababisha mapokeo ya kwamba alitwaliwa mbinguni (Ebrania 11:5). Kwa sababu hiyo alitumiwa kama mhusika mkuu katika maandishi mbalimbali ya kabla ya Kristo, na hata ya baada yake, hasa katika Kitabu cha Henoko. Katika Uislamu anaheshimiwa kama nabii kwa jina la Idris ingawa hili ni bandia na halipo kwenye Torati.

Lakini nilipo soma Suratul Maryam aya ya 56 na 57 nilikutana na jina hilia Idris na inadaiwa eti Idris ni Henoko wa Biblia. Je haya madai ni kweli?

Kulingana na Biblia, Henoko na Eliya ndio watu wawili pekee ambao Mungu alichukua mbinguni bila kufa. Mwanzo 5:24 inatuambia, " Henoko akaenda pamoja na Mungu, naye akatoweka, maana Mungu alimtwaa." Wafalme wa pili 2:11 inatuambia, "... ghafla kukatokea gari la moto na farasi wa moto , likawatenga wale wawili, naye Eliya akaenda mbinguni kwa kimbunga." Henoko anaelezewa kama mtu ambaye "alitembea pamoja na Mungu kwa miaka 300" (Mwanzo 5:23). Eliya labda alikuwa Nabii mkuu wa Mungu katika Agano la Kale. Pia kuna unabii wa kurudi kwa Eliya (Malaki 4: 5-6).

Kwa nini Mungu aliwachukua Henoko na Eliya? Biblia haijat upa jibu mahsusi. Wengine wanasema kuwa walichukuliwa katika maandalizi ya jukumu katika nyakati za mwisho, labda kama mashahidi wawili katika Ufunuo sura ya 11: 3-12. Hii inawezekana, lakini haijafundishwa wazi katika Biblia. Inawezekana kwamba Mungu alipendelea kuokoa Henoko na Eliya kutokana na kufa kwa sababu ya uaminifu wao mkubwa katika kumtumikia na kumtii. Kwa hali yoyote, Mungu ana lengo lake, na wakati hatujui mipango na makusudi ya Mungu, tunajua kwamba "Njia yake ni kamilifu" (Zaburi 18:30).

CHRISTIANITY IS THE OLDEST FAITH IN AFRICA

Many Africans already knew Christ way before slavery. In fact, it was Simon the Cyrene (Cyrene today is Libya) who helped Jesus carry the cross 2000 years ago. Not long after, Christianity hit Ethiopia when Philip the Apostle spread the gospel of Jesus Christ to an Ethiopian eunuch/high official.

1278 years before slavery in the year 341, Ezana the Ethiopian King officially named Ethiopia a Christian nation.

The name of Jesus lasted 1500 years later thru slavery, and still lives on today. You can't "force" Faith. Just ask Harriet Tubman who found Jesus in visions and heard His voice in prayers.

Ask Frederick Douglas who found his Faith in Christ as “Redeemer, Friend, and Savior" once he decided to cast all of his cares upon Him. So to those who continue to walk in the ignorance of believing that Jesus was "forced" on us, stop believing every article you read.

When you mention "research", make sure you're researching real facts rather than feeding your non-belief with real lies that are based on the opinions of another man.

Kwa Kiebrania ni אליהו Hebrew: אֵלִיָּהוּ, Eliyahu, ina maana ya "My God is Yahweh. Mungu wangu ni Yehova.

Kwa Kiarabu ni إيليا 'iilia

Kwa Kiswahili ni Eliya.

Kama nilivyo anza kwa kuweka tafsiri ya jina la Nabii Eliya. Umeona kwa Kiarabu ni LILIA na sio Ilyas kama Waislam wanavyo dai. Swali la kujiuliza, kwanini Manabii wote wa Kiislam wana majina tofauti na tafsiri sahihi kwa Kiarabu?

Nabii Eliya ni mmojawapo wa watu wenye kuvutia na mtu maridadi zaidi katika Biblia, na Mungu akamtumia wakati wa kipindi muhimu katika historia ya Israeli kumpinga mfalme mwovu na kuleta ufufio katika nchi. Huduma ya Eliya ilisababisha mwanzo wa mwisho wa ibada kwa Baali katika Israeli. Maisha ya Eliya yalijawa na matatizo. Wakati mwingine alikuwa mwenye ujasiri na mwenye uwezo wa kufanya uamuzi, na wakati mwingine alikuwa mcha Mungu and msikifu. Kwa upande mwingine yeye ni dhihirisho la ushindi na uhodari, ikifuatiwa na kurudisha kilichopotea. Eliya alijua nguvu zote za Mungu na kina cha msononeko.

SASA TUMSOME ELIYA WA KWENYE BIBLIA

Mara nyingine tunamwona Eliya akiwa mhusika mkuu ni katika makabiliano na manabii wa uongo wa Baali kwenye Mlima Karmeli (1 Wafalme 18: 17-40). Manabii wa Baali walimwita mungu wao mchana kutwa ili azushe moto kutoka mbinguni bila mafanikio. Kisha Eliya akajenga madhabahu ya mawe, akachimba shimo kando yake yote, akaweka dhabihu juu ya kuni na akaomba maji yamwagwe juu ya dhabihu yake mara tatu. Eliya akamwita Mungu, na Mungu akateremsha moto kutoka mbinguni, ukachoma ile dhabihu, kuni, na mawe na kuvyonza maji kwenye shimoni. Mungu alionyesha kuwa alikuwa na nguvu zaidi kuliko miungu ya uongo. Ilikuwa ni wakati huo Eliya na watu waliwaua manabii wote wa uongo wa Baali, wakifuata amri ya Mungu katika Kumbukumbu la Torati 13: 5.

Baada ya ushindi mku juu ya manabii wa uongo, mvua ikaanguka tena katika nchi (1 Wafalme 18: 41-46). Hata hivyo, licha ya ushindi huo, Eliya aliingia katika kipindi cha myumbisho wa imani na msononeko (1 Wafalme 19: 1-18). Ahabu alikuwa amekwishamwambia mkewe, Yezebeli, dhihirosho la nguvu za Mungu. Badala ya kumrudia Mungu, Yezebeli aliapa kumwua Eliya. Eliyo aliposikia jambo hili, alikimbilia jangwani, ambako aliomba Mungu ayachukue maisha yake. Huko mlimani Eliya akaficha ndani ya pango, huku akijihurumia mwenyewe na hata kukiri kuwa yeye pekee ndiye aliyekuwa amebaki kati ya manabii wa Mungu. Hapo ndipo Bwana alimwambia Eliya asimame juu ya mlima, Bwana anapopita. Kulikuwa na upepo mkubwa, tetemeko la ardhi, na kisha moto, lakini Mungu hakuwa katika yote hayo. Kisha kukaja sauti nyororo, ambayo Eliya alimsikia Mungu na kumwelewa. Mungu akampa Eliya maagizo ya chenye atafanya baadaye, ikiwa ni pamoja na kumtia mafuta Elisa ili achukue nafasi yake kama nabii na akamhakikishia Eliya kwamba bado kulikuwa na watu 7,000 huko Israeli ambao hawakuwa wamepiga goti lao kwa Baali.
