Debate Challenge: The Absence of “Islam” and “Muslims” in Pre-Quranic Scriptures

Proposed by: Dr. Maxwell Shimba

Shimba Theological Institute

Topic: Do the Torah, Psalms, and Gospel mention Islam or Muslims as claimed by Islam?

Opening Statement:

Muslims claim that prophets such as Moses, David, and Jesus were all Muslims and preached Islam. However, upon examination of the scriptures that existed before the Quran — namely the Torah, Psalms, and Gospel — it becomes clear that:

  1. In the Torah of Moses, there is no mention of the word “Islam” or “Muslims.”

  2. In the Gospel of Jesus, there is no mention of the word “Islam” or “Muslims.”

  3. In the Psalms of David, there is no mention of the word “Islam” or “Muslims.”

Debate Questions:

A. Why do Muslims claim that Moses was a Muslim when the Torah that predates the Quran neither contains the word Islam nor refers to Muslims?

B. Why do Muslims claim that Jesus was a Muslim when the Gospel that existed before the Quran neither contains the word Islam nor refers to Muslims?

C. Why do Muslims claim that David was a Muslim when the Psalms that predate the Quran neither contain the word Islam nor refer to Muslims?

If Muslims dispute this, then I respectfully challenge them to produce:

  1. A preserved, authentic copy of the original Torah, allegedly revealed by Allah to Moses, along with a verse declaring Moses was a Muslim.

  2. A preserved, authentic copy of the original Gospel, allegedly revealed by Allah to Jesus, along with a verse declaring Jesus was a Muslim.

  3. A preserved, authentic copy of the original Psalms, allegedly revealed by Allah to David, along with a verse declaring David was a Muslim.

Quranic Acknowledgment:

The Quran itself asserts in Surah 15:9 that Allah has preserved the previous scriptures — the Torah and Gospel.
It also references them in Surah 16:43, 21:7, 21:48, 21:105, and 40:53-54.

If the Quran’s claims are true:

  • Where is the preserved copy of the original Torah before the Quran?

  • Where is the preserved copy of the original Gospel before the Quran?

  • Where is the preserved copy of the original Psalms before the Quran?

Final Challenge:
If any Muslim scholar or apologist can present these preserved scriptures with the specified content, I, Dr. Maxwell Shimba, will publicly accept Islam and become a Muslim today.

Thank you.

IN THE TORAH, PSALMS, AND GOSPEL, THERE IS NO MENTION OF THE WORD “ISLAM” OR “MUSLIMS”

  1. In the Torah of Moses, there is no word "Islam" or "Muslims."

  2. In the Gospel of Jesus, there is no word "Islam" or "Muslims."

  3. In the Psalms of David, there is no word "Islam" or "Muslims."

A. Why do Muslims claim that Moses was a Muslim, when the Torah that existed before the Quran does not state this, nor does it contain the word Islam or Muslims?

B. Why do Muslims claim that Jesus was a Muslim, when the Gospel that existed before the Quran does not state this, nor does it contain the word Islam or Muslims?

C. Why do Muslims claim that David was a Muslim, when the Psalms that existed before the Quran do not state this, nor do they contain the word Islam or Muslims?

If Muslims disagree with this, then let them show us:

  • Where is the Torah that Allah supposedly revealed to Moses so we can read it for ourselves? And show us a verse from it stating that Moses was a Muslim.

Now, the Quran itself claims that Allah has preserved the Torah and Gospel.
This is affirmed in Surah 15:9.
We also find references to the Torah and Gospel as records in Surah 16:43, 21:7, 21:48, 21:105, and 40:53-54.

Therefore, Surah 15:9 acknowledges that the Torah and Gospel have been preserved by Allah.
If this claim of the Quran is true:

  1. Where is the preserved copy of the Torah that Allah revealed before the Quran?

  2. Where is the preserved copy of the Gospel that Allah revealed before the Quran?

  3. Where is the preserved copy of the Psalms that Allah revealed before the Quran?

Debate Challenge: The Book of Moses (Musa) in Islam

Proposed by: Dr. Maxwell Shimba

Shimba Theological Institute

Topic: Where is the Book that was given to Moses (Musa) by Allah before the birth of Muhammad?

Opening Statement:

Islamic belief asserts that Moses (Musa) was a prophet and a Muslim, and that he was given a divine scripture known as the Taurat (Torah) by Allah. The Quran itself confirms this in:

Surah Al-Baqarah 2:136:
"Say: We believe in Allah and what has been revealed to us, and what was revealed to Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, and the Descendants, and what was given to Moses and Jesus, and what was given to the prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them, and to Him we submit."

If it is true, as Muslims believe, that Moses received a divine Book from Allah, then the following questions must be answered directly and with evidence:

Debate Questions:

  1. Where is the preserved copy of the Taurat (Torah) that Allah revealed to Moses before the Quran? Muslims, please provide its location or a verifiable source.

  2. To which specific Ummah (nation or people) was Moses sent as a prophet? Kindly mention the name of that Ummah.

  3. Present a verse from the original Book of Moses (Taurat) revealed before the Quran, in which Moses himself declares the Islamic Shahada (testifying that there is no god but Allah and Muhammad is His Messenger).

Important Note:
Quranic verses will not be accepted as evidence, because the Quran was revealed long after Moses’ time. The inquiry is strictly about the original Taurat that Allah supposedly gave Moses before the Quran.

Final Challenge:
If any Muslim scholar or apologist can provide authentic, historical, and textual proof to answer the questions above —
I, Dr. Maxwell Shimba, will accept Islam and become a Muslim today.

Thank you.

WHERE IS THE BOOK THAT WAS GIVEN TO MOSES (MUSA) BY ALLAH BEFORE THE BIRTH OF MUHAMMAD?

ALLAH AND MUSLIMS CLAIM THAT MOSES WAS A PROPHET AND A MUSLIM:

Allah further states that He revealed the Taurat (Torah) to His prophet Moses.

Surah Al-Baqarah 2:136:
Say: We believe in Allah and what has been revealed to us, and what was revealed to Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, and the Descendants, and what was given to Moses and Jesus, and what was given to the prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them, and to Him we submit.

If it is indeed true that Moses was given a Book by Allah, then I ask for answers to the following questions:

Questions:

  1. Where is the copy of the Taurat (Torah) that Allah revealed to Moses before the Quran? Can you produce it or indicate its whereabouts?

  2. Which specific Ummah (nation or community) was Moses sent to as a prophet? Kindly mention the name of that Ummah.

  3. Provide evidence — a verse from the original Book of Moses — where Moses himself recites the Islamic Shahada (bearing witness that there is no god but Allah and Muhammad is His Messenger).

NOTE: Quranic verses are not acceptable here because those verses are not the original Taurat of Moses that was revealed before the Quran.

Debate Challenge: The Book of David (Dawud) in Islam

Proposed by: Dr. Maxwell Shimba

Shimba Theological Institute

Topic: Where is the Book that was given to David (Dawud) by Allah before the birth of Muhammad?

Opening Statement:

According to Islamic belief, David (Dawud) is recognized as a prophet and a Muslim. Muslims, alongside the Quran, affirm that Allah gave David a divine scripture known as the Zabur (Psalms). The Quran itself testifies to this in:

Surah An-Nisaa 4:163:
"Indeed, We have revealed to you (O Muhammad) as We revealed to Noah and the prophets after him. And We revealed to Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob and the Descendants, Jesus, Job, Jonah, Aaron, and Solomon — and to David We gave the Zabur (Psalms)."

If it is true that Allah sent down the Zabur to David, then the following critical questions require clear, evidence-based answers from the Muslim side:

Debate Questions:

  1. To which specific Ummah (nation or community) was David sent as a prophet? Muslims, kindly state the name of that Ummah.

  2. Where is a preserved, verifiable copy of the original Zabur that Allah revealed to David before the Quran?

  3. In which city did David receive this divine scripture from Allah?

  4. Can you provide a verse from the original Zabur (prior to the Quran) where David himself declares the Islamic Shahada (bearing witness that there is no god but Allah and Muhammad is His Messenger)?

Important Note:
Quranic verses are not acceptable as evidence in response to these questions, because the Quran was revealed long after David’s time. The inquiry pertains specifically to the Zabur that was allegedly revealed before the Quran.

Final Challenge:
If any Muslim scholar, cleric, or apologist can present authentic, historical, and textual proof addressing the four questions above —
I, Dr. Maxwell Shimba, will publicly accept Islam today.

Thank you.

WHERE IS THE BOOK THAT WAS GIVEN TO DAVID (DAWUD) BY ALLAH BEFORE THE BIRTH OF MUHAMMAD?

ALLAH AND MUSLIMS CLAIM THAT DAVID WAS A PROPHET AND A MUSLIM:

ALLAH SAYS: “AND TO DAVID WE GAVE THE PSALMS.”

Surah An-Nisaa 4:163:
Indeed, We have revealed to you (O Muhammad) as We revealed to Noah and the prophets after him. And We revealed to Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob and the Descendants, Jesus, Job, Jonah, Aaron, and Solomon — and to David We gave the Psalms (Zabur).

If it’s true that Allah revealed the Psalms to David, then the following questions must be answered:

  1. Which Ummah (nation) was David sent as a prophet to? Muslims, please mention the name of that Ummah.

  2. Where is a copy of the Psalms (Zabur) that Allah revealed to David before the Quran?

  3. In which city did David receive this Zabur?

  4. Provide a verse from the Zabur that Allah revealed before the Quran in which DAVID recites the Shahada.

NOTE: I’m not interested in Quran verses here, because those are not the Psalms that were revealed before the Quran.

IF YOU CAN PROVIDE PROOF FOR MY QUESTIONS ABOVE,
THEN TODAY I WILL BECOME A MUSLIM.

WHERE IS THE BOOK THAT WAS GIVEN TO ABRAHAM BY ALLAH BEFORE THE BIRTH OF MUHAMMAD?

ALLAH AND MUSLIMS CLAIM THAT ABRAHAM WAS A PROPHET AND A MUSLIM:

Quran 10:47:
And for every nation there is a messenger. When their messenger comes, it will be judged between them in justice, and they will not be wronged.

Look at this verse too:

Quran 14:4:
And We did not send any messenger except [speaking] in the language of his people to make [the message] clear for them. Then Allah leaves astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise.

Surah 3:67 (Shakir translation):
Ibrahim was not a Jew, nor a Christian, but he was a true Muslim, and he was not one of the polytheists.

Allah says every nation was given a prophet and a message — a “Book” — and that Ibrahim was a Muslim. SO NOW:

  1. Muslims — tell me the name of the book that was given to Ibrahim by Allah.

  2. Bring me evidence — a verse from that book — where Ibrahim declared the Shahada.

  3. Tell me the name of the nation (Ummah) that Ibrahim was sent as a prophet to.

  4. Allah says Ibrahim was neither a Jew nor a Christian. If that claim is true, why do Muslims claim that Christianity was invented by Paul, while Allah Himself admits that even during Ibrahim’s time there was Christianity?

NOTE: I am not concerned with Quran verses here, because those are not the Book that was revealed to Ibrahim before the Quran.

Why I Left Islam for Christianity: The Transformational Journey of Abou Hamza Hussain

**Why I Left Islam for Christianity: The Transformational Journey of Abou Hamza Hussain**

My name is Abou Hamza Hussain. I was born in Kismayo, Somalia, the son of a respected Sheikh and a faithful defender of Islam. From a young age, I was steeped in the sacred rituals of the Quran, taught to fear Allah, honor jihad, and protect the honor of Islam with my very life. My destiny seemed clear: to follow in my father’s footsteps as a leader and warrior for the cause of Allah.

By the time I turned twenty, I had become a full member of **Al Shabaab**, trained in the harsh deserts of Somalia, consumed with zeal and the belief that I was doing God’s will. I believed I was chosen to purify the land from the “infidels” and to usher in a caliphate ruled by sharia. With every operation, I silenced the quiet tremor in my heart—the faint question, *“Is this truly what God desires?”*

Then one night, everything changed.

It was just after an ambush mission in the outskirts of Baidoa. We had taken lives. The screams still echoed in my mind. That night, I lay under the open sky, haunted by a hollow feeling in my soul. As I drifted to sleep, I had a dream so vivid, it felt more real than life.

I saw a man clothed in radiant white. His eyes were like fire, yet full of compassion. He called me by name:

**“Hamza.”**

I fell to my knees, trembling.

Then He said:

**“What you are doing is not from God. You are fighting in darkness, not in light. I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”**

I woke up in tears. My body trembled. I had never seen or heard anything like it. The name *Isa al-Masih*—Jesus—kept echoing in my heart. For weeks, I was torn between the life I had known and the truth I had seen. I tried to suppress the dream, to drown it in religious rituals, but the peace I felt in that dream kept calling me.

Secretly, I began searching for a Bible. It took me months, but I found one—hidden in the back of a market stall in Nairobi during a covert trip. I began reading the words of Jesus. His teachings, His love for enemies, His call to forgiveness—it was unlike anything I had ever known. He didn’t call for revenge, but for redemption. He didn’t demand blood—He shed His own for me.

And then I read:

**“Love your enemies, and pray for those who persecute you…”** (Matthew 5:44)

I broke down and wept.

I realized I had been living in deception, wrapped in a cloak of religion but far from the heart of God. Jesus wasn’t just a prophet—He was the very Son of God, the living Word, the Savior of the world.

Choosing Christ meant walking away from everything—my position, my comrades, even my family. When I confessed my faith in Jesus, I became a target. My own father declared me an apostate. The men I once called brothers hunted me. I escaped death more than once, but I gained life—**eternal life**.

Today, I live in a neighboring country under a new identity. But I am not afraid. I share my story with other former militants and seekers who long to know the truth. I tell them:

**“Jesus found me in the middle of jihad. He did not condemn me—He called me.”**

I am no longer a soldier of war.

I am a servant of peace.

I no longer fight with weapons of hate.

I live by the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.

My name is Abou Hamza Hussain.

I was once a fighter for Allah.

Now, I am a follower of Christ.

And I have found the Truth that set me free.

Why I Left Islam for Christianity

Why I Left Islam for Christianity: The Inspiring Journey of Aisha Abubakar

I was born under the golden sun of Mogadishu, Somalia, into a devout Muslim family. My name is Aisha Abubakar, named after one of Prophet Muhammad's wives. From the earliest moments of my childhood, Islam was more than a religion—it was my identity, my culture, my world.

My parents raised me in the Quranic traditions. I learned to recite verses in Arabic before I fully understood their meaning. I wore the hijab with pride, fasted during Ramadan, and never questioned the teachings that were handed down from generation to generation. My life was structured, obedient, and deeply religious. But in the quiet corners of my heart, questions began to whisper.

It began when I was seventeen. My younger brother fell gravely ill. We prayed fervently at the mosque. My mother recited surahs day and night, and my father offered zakat to the poor. But nothing changed. One evening, as I sat beside my brother’s hospital bed, I whispered a simple prayer—not in Arabic, but in Somali, my mother tongue: “God, if You are real, show me who You are.”

A few days later, a nurse at the hospital, an older woman from Kenya named Miriam, noticed the sorrow in my eyes. She gently handed me a small book—*The Gospel of John*. She didn’t say much, only, “Read this when you’re alone. And ask God to speak to you.”

Out of curiosity, I opened it. The words struck me like lightning:

**“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”**

I couldn’t stop reading.

Every word pierced my heart with a strange, unfamiliar hope. Then I came to this:

**“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”**

For the first time in my life, I felt seen—known—not by a distant deity, but by a loving, personal God.

My journey to Christ was not a single moment, but a thousand small encounters: dreams where I saw a man in white calling my name; a peace that washed over me as I read the Gospels; and a deep, unshakable sense that Jesus was not just a prophet—He was the Son of God, the Savior of my soul.

Accepting Christ meant more than changing my beliefs. It meant risking everything. My family disowned me. I was called a traitor. Threats followed me everywhere. But I held onto the words that had transformed me:

**“Come to Me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”** (Matthew 11:28)

In Jesus, I found more than rest—I found life.

I found forgiveness.

I found identity not rooted in fear, but in love.

I found a Father who runs to embrace His lost daughter.

And I found the courage to live in the light, even when the shadows of persecution surrounded me.

Today, I serve in East Africa, sharing the Gospel with other women who, like me, are searching for truth beneath the veil of religion. I tell them: **Jesus is not a religion. He is a relationship. He does not condemn you; He calls you by name.**

My name is Aisha Abubakar.

I was a Muslim.

Now, I am a daughter of the King.

And I have never been more free.

Muhammad was fat and dwarf

 FAT AND DWARF? 🤔

According to the Hadith, The APPEARANCE of Muhammad is Unthinkable, Matchless 😣

Hadith:

Al-Tirmidhi Hadith #5791

Narrated by Ali ibn AbuTalib

When Ali DESCRIBED the Prophet (peace be upon him) he said: 👉He was neither very tall nor EXCESSIVELY SHORT, but was a man of MEDIUM SIZE.👈

He had neither very curly nor flowing hair but a mixture of both. He was not obese, he did not have a very round face, but it was so to some extent.

👉He was REDDISH-WHITE, he had WIDE black eyes and LONG eyelashes.👈

He had protruding joints and shoulder-

blades, he was not hairy but had some hair on his chest, and the palms of his hands and his feet were calloused.

When he walked he raised his feet as though he were walking on a slope; when he turned round he turned completely.

BETWEEN HIS SHOULDERS WAS THE SEAL OF PROPHECY and he was the seal of the prophets.

He had a finer chest THAN ANYONE ELSE, was TRUER IN UTTERANCE THAN ANYONE ELSE, had the GENTLEST NATURE and the noblest tribe.

Those who saw him SUDDENLY STOOD IN AWE OF HIM and those who shared his acquaintanceship LOVED him.

👉Those who described him said they had NEVER SEEN ANYONE LIKE HIM BEFORE or SINCE.👈

Tirmidhi transmitted it.

So therefore, according to this report, Muhammad was a man of MEDIUM SIZE and REDDISH-WHITE in Complexion etc...

Yet, according to another Hadith, Muhammad is described as being A FAT MAN AND DWARF 😁

Hadith:

Sunnah Abu Dawud Book 40, Number 4731

Narrated AbuBarzah:

AbdusSalam ibn AbuHazim AbuTalut said: I saw AbuBarzah who came to visit Ubaydullah ibn Ziyad. Then a man named Muslim who was there in the company mentioned it to me.

When Ubaydullah SAW him, he said: 👉This Muhammad of yours is a DWARF and FAT. The old man (i.e. AbuBarzah) UNDERSTOOD IT. So he said: I did not think that I should remain among people who would make me FEEL ASHAMED of the company of Muhammad (peace be upon him).👈

Thereupon Ubaydullah said: The company of Muhammad (peace be upon him) is a HONOUR for you, not a DISGRACE. He added: I called for you to ask about the reservoir. Did you hear the Apostle of Allah (peace be upon him) mentioning anything about it? AbuBarzah said: Yes, not once, twice, thrice, four times or five times. If anyone believes it, may Allah not supply him with water from it. He then went away angrily.

Sunnah Abu Dawud Book 40, Number 4731

Comment:

By saying he "heard and understood it", it is saying that the DESCRIPTION WAS ACCURATE.

His only thought was that he did not want to be around those who made him feel ashamed of the company of Muhammad.

If the description was NOT accurate, he would have OBJECTED or thought "these people have no idea what they're talking about".

My Questions

1. How can Muhammad be described as a FAT AND DWARF in one Hadith and in another Hadith, described as a MEDIUM Size?

Please explain... 😏

2. According to the Quran

When they SEE Muhammad, they LAUGH at him, MOCK him (Q. 25:41, Q. 21:36) 🙄

And

Muhammad even MARVELED when they MOCKED him

Q. 37:11-15

The Question is

If Muhammad was a man of MEDIUM SIZE

Why would they MOCK him and Why was he described as being a FAT AND DWARF in another Hadith? 🏃

3. Allah told Muhamad that ALL the

Messengers who came before him were MOCKED

(Q. 13:32, 15:10-11, 21:41, 36:30, 43:6-7, 6:10)🙄

But

Muhammad did NOT forgive some of his very companions who MOCKED

(Q. 9:65-66) ...

WHY DIDN'T MUHAMMAD FORGIVE HIS COMPANIONS WHO MOCKED?

4. According to Muhammad in Surah 94:4, Allah said he created Man in the BEST OF STATURE

The Question is

Why are some people Handicapped having defects?

The Man in the verse, is it in reference to Adam or to ALL of Mankind?

If Adam, why was he made 90fts and we are not?

Why Muhammad is a FAT AND DWARF and yet he is described as the BEST OF CREATION? 😁
