"Gospel preachers" from Islam usually object to the claim that Jesus is God. When you present them with evidence, they ask, "Show me the verse." There are actually many passages in the Bible that show the truth that Jesus is God. So many!
Once you give them a verse, they change and say, "I want the words that Jesus Himself spoke."
This is a FALSE and unbiblical criterion. The truth is, the WHOLE Bible is the Word of God. It does not matter if it was spoken by Moses, Isaiah, John, Peter, or Jesus Himself. It is written:
For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit. (2 Peter 1:21)
Therefore, their demand, “I want the words that Jesus Himself spoke,” is an invalid and illogical criterion.
The following is biblical evidence that JESUS CHRIST is God.
John 8:58
Jesus said to them, "Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM."
"I AM" is a name belonging only to God. We find this name when Moses spoke with God and was sent to deliver the children of Israel from Egypt. It is written:
Moses said to God, "Suppose I go to the Israelites and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they ask me, ‘What is his name?’ Then what shall I tell them?" God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.” (Exodus 3:13-14)
A human exists because God caused him to exist. A car exists because an engineer or designer caused it to be. A house exists because a builder made it. But God—HE JUST IS!! He does not exist because of anything or anyone else! That is why He said, "I AM WHO I AM!" Jesus is I AM. Therefore, He is God.
John 10:30
I and the Father are one.
Muslims claim that Jesus and God are one only in purpose, not in their essence. So I ask them about the following passage from Isaiah, and they have no answer:
Isaiah 9:6
For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
This verse is very clear. The one spoken about is Jesus, and He is called "Mighty God."
John 14:9
Jesus said to him, "Have I been with you so long, and you still do not know me, Philip? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?"
Jesus said these words after being asked a very clear question, aimed at knowing GOD THE FATHER! It is written:
Philip said to Him, "Lord, SHOW US THE FATHER, and it is enough for us."
Then Jesus answered plainly: "Whoever has seen me has seen the Father."
This means, "I am the Father Himself."
Revelation 1:17 and Revelation 22:13
I am the First and the Last
I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.
Only God has the authority to be the first and the last; Jesus is the Alpha and Omega. Therefore, He is God.
John 1:1
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the WORD WAS GOD.
Muslims do not like this verse at all because it is very clear. Jesus is the Word; and the Word is God; therefore, Jesus is God!
John 20:28
Thomas answered Him, "MY LORD AND MY GOD!"
When Thomas said this, the Lord Jesus did not deny it and say, "I am not God." Instead, Jesus said to him,
"Because you have seen Me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed." (John 20:29)
Acts 20:28
Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers. Be shepherds of the church of GOD, WHICH HE BOUGHT WITH HIS OWN BLOOD.
Which God has blood? The answer is clear. This is Jesus Christ. He is the one who gave His life and shed His blood on the cross; and this is when He established the Church.
Colossians 1:16
For IN HIM ALL THINGS WERE CREATED: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through Him and for Him.
All things were created in Him, Jesus. It means that all things originated from Jesus; because Jesus is the Word of God. And we know that the Creator of all things is God; therefore, Jesus is the Creator—He is God!
Colossians 2:9
For IN CHRIST ALL THE FULLNESS OF THE DEITY LIVES in bodily form.
We are all imperfect people. We fall again and again into sin. Therefore, no ordinary human can boast that he is as perfect as God. But in Jesus “ALL the fullness of God dwells.” Why? Because He is that very God.
1 Timothy 3:16
Beyond all question, the mystery of godliness is great: GOD WAS MANIFESTED IN THE FLESH, was vindicated by the Spirit, was seen by angels, was preached among the nations, was believed on in the world, was taken up in glory.
Which God was manifested in the flesh? The answer is clear. It is Jesus Christ alone.
Titus 2:13
…while we wait for the blessed hope—the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, JESUS CHRIST,
Jesus Christ is the Great God!!
The MAIN problem Muslims have is this: They judge God by human standards. God says:
"Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for me?" (Jeremiah 32:27)
The answer is obvious. THERE IS NOTHING!
But you will find Muslims asking very strange questions. For example, if Jesus is God, when He died, who was watching over the world?
This is a question fit to be asked about a creature. If we were speaking of a human being who had died, then it would make sense to ask, while he was dead who was taking care of his family? Because this is a question about human attributes, since a human cannot be in two or more places at once. GOD IS NOT A HUMAN! HE IS ABLE TO DO ALL THINGS—ESPECIALLY THE GOD OF ABRAHAM, ISAAC, AND JACOB!
JESUS IS GOD FOREVER AND EVER!!
HALLELUJAH!!
