Muslims hide in church in Central African Republic in fear of lives

More than 1,000 Muslims have been hiding from a hostile militia inside a Roman Catholic Church at a compound in Bangassou, Central African Republic.

Catholic pastoral charity Aid to the Church in Need, which has been in contact with the church in Bangassou, told The Christian Post in an email that reports that describe the anti-balaka militia group as "Christian" are wide of the mark

"To call the anti-balaka a Christian militia, as is often done, is a mistake," said Maria Lozano, communications manager at Aid to the Church in Need International. "Our partners in the field told us several times that there is not much about them that is Christian. They carry fetishes and amulets for protection. The conflict is between Muslims and non-Muslims, the many followers of traditional religions and non-Christian sects."

Lozano told the Post that Seleka and Muslim rebels from Sudan and Chad have destroyed and attacked the homes of both Christian and Muslim communities.

"The local non-Muslim people created the anti-balaka militia to defend themselves, and they are full of anger after having to endure long months of assaults and violence," she said.

There is growing evidence that parts of CAR are degenerating into lawless chaos.

According to a report last week from Doctors Without Borders, groups of women have been kidnapped and raped by local armed groups. Survivors were taken to Bossangoa hospital last week.

"The women we saw were coping in many different ways but all were incredibly traumatized. Some were in total shock, while others were paralyzed by fear, or found it very hard to speak about the incident," said Soulemane-Amoin, the Doctors Without Borders midwife at Bossangoa hospital.

"A number of the women had fresh knife wounds. It was horrible to witness and my heart goes out to them. Our maternity team treated them with dignity, patience and provided them with a safe and confidential space to start processing what had happened."

An ACN report from January on the situation in Bangassou noted that some 2,000 Muslims initially took refuge at the grounds of the Catholic church in May 2017, and around 1,000 continue to shelter there.

"All around this place there are armed men on the prowl, hoping that one of the Muslims will emerge, so that they can kill them," said Father Yovane Cox, a Chilean missionary at the compound.

"Some of the Muslims try to leave the site to go and look for firewood, while others do so in order to scavenge in the houses that have been abandoned around the area (in search of food they need to survive on)," he added.

This had led to Muslims being caught by the anti-balakas, who have murdered them on the spot.

The Chilean missionary said that priests at the Catholic mission are helpless and need assistance if they are to protect the Muslims from the militia.

"By the silence of the state authorities and the inaction of the U.N. forces in not wanting to move the few Muslims still left on this site, they are simply inviting a confrontation between the two groups and a resulting bloodbath," Cox said.

"What we are sounding the alarm about and what we are asking them to do is to please relocate them from this site, because it is the only way of saving those still remaining here, who are for the most part women and children."

Uganda Forced to Call Up Army to Quell Muslim Infighting at Mosque

Bushenyi — Army and police have been deployed at Basajjabalaba Mosque in Bushenyi-Ishaka municipality for five days now following disagreements among the Muslims in the area.

Bushenyi District Police Commander (DPC) Mr Ronald Rutaro said police backed up by the army last Sunday, moved to secure property and lives of people after a group of Muslims attacked the mosque last week.

"We got information that a group of Muslims had attacked Ishaka-Basajjabalaba mosque with pangas; we went there and did a search and we were able to recover pangas and spears. We decided to deploy for the security of the area," Mr Rutaro said on Wednesday.

A section of Muslims are opposed to leadership the of the District Kadhi Mubarak Kateinama. They accuse him of poor management and misusing mosque property including finances, buildings and land.

Police say it is the group opposed to the Kadhi that invaded the mosque. "A day before the invasion, a gang of over 70 people moved through Bushenyi town with pangas protesting against the district Kadhi; we have arrested three with their pangas," said Mr Rutaro.

Though the Mufti of Uganda, Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubajje has intervened in the matter, Mr Rutaro said police also are investigating the conflict and that deployment will remain until the situation returns to normal.

Hajji Umaru Muhanguzi, a councilor for Igara County in the Muslim Supreme Council, who is among those opposed to Sheik Kateinama's leadership said on Thursday that the Khadi has neglected his roles. "In administration of the area, Kadhi is not available yet this is a full time job. There is no progress in activities and work because he is not around. We have had only two Muslim District Council meetings in the last seven years when we should have been meeting quarterly," said Hajji Muhanguzi.

He added, "There should be a budget and work plan but these are not there. Islam in the area has lost meaning."

Mr Muhanguzi said the Muslims gave business tycoon Hassan Basajjabalaba land to establish personal projects on an understanding that he in turn constructs for them commercial buildings for income generation but he has never fulfilled this, and the district Khadhi is siding with him.

"On one of the (pieces of) land (Basjjabalaba was given) he has a parking yard and some buildings but he has never built for Muslims as promised. The Kadhi is on his side and we are saying why does he want Muslims to lose?" he said.

Muslims have not prayed from the mosque since security took control.

"Let them open the mosque and police remain to keep law and order as the issues are being resolved. There is no need for army," said Hajji Muhanguzi.

Sheik Kateinama however denied the allegations against him. "These are mere accusations, they are not true. We (Kateinama and his opponents) met Mufti in Kampala over these issues and an investigation is being conducted," said Sheik Kateinama.

He added that the impasse started last month. On February 16 while they were in Isingiro district attending a seminar, a group of Tabliq Muslims from different parts of the district went at night and took over operations of the mosque and the office of District Kadhi. He added that police did not help much when they reported the matter on February 17. Mr Kateinama said that instead of protecting the mosque from wrong elements, police offered them protection and that caused insecurity in the area.

"Since February 16, the mosque had been under threat by the people who are known to the security as bad elements who are training rebels.

Army have been deployed to help us to protect the place because it had become insecure for us since there are some people who were threatening to tie themselves with bombs so that they can explode with it at the mosque," said Mr Kateinama.

The UPDF Second Division spokesperson Maj. Peter Mugisa (Thursday) said they are supporting their sister security agency as per their constitutional mandate. He added, "The UPDF there is under command of police in Bushenyi. We are there to augment police because they were thin on the ground. There were attacks; we need to secure that area until there is serenity and calmness."

Atheist Dawkins: 'Why is it Fine to Criticize Christianity But Not Islam?'

(LifeSiteNews) – Despite his years of denouncing religion, Richard Dawkins does not welcome a European future without Christianity.

On Wednesday, the atheist author and evolutionary biologist warned those inclined to “rejoice at the death throes of the relatively benign Christian religion” to keep in mind the danger of "something worse" taking its place.

That worse alternative, Dawkins suggests, is Islam, which he has previously called “the most evil religion in the world.”

Dawkins was reacting to a Guardian report on recent polling that shows 70% of people in the United Kingdom between the ages of 16 and 29 do not identify with any religion, that 59% of them never attend religious services, and that almost two-thirds of them never pray.

The research, published by theology and sociology professor Stephen Bullivant of St. Mary’s University in London, finds similarly high numbers in other European nations. Sweden, the Netherlands, and the Czech Republic all have even higher percentages of non-religious young people, while the young populations of France, Belgium, and Hungary are all more than 60% non-religious. More than half of the age group in Finland, Denmark, Norway, and Spain is non-religious, as well.

“Christianity as a default, as a norm, is gone, and probably gone for good – or at least for the next 100 years,” Bullivant says. “Cultural religious identities just aren’t being passed on from parents to children. It just washes straight off them.”

The Guardian report quotes Bullivant as noting that “the Muslim birthrate is higher than the general population, and they have much higher [religious] retention rates.”

Despite having once claimed that government needs to “protect” children from being “indoctrinated in whatever religion their parents happen to have been brought up in,” Dawkins recognizes that European Christianity serves as a “bulwark against something worse.”

“There are no Christians, as far as I know, blowing up buildings,” Dawkins said. “I am not aware of any Christian suicide bombers. I am not aware of any major Christian denomination that believes the penalty for apostasy is death.”

While Dawkins holds far-left positions on issues such as abortion, his take on Islam echoes that of many conservative and religious observers. In January, the Turning Point Project’s William Kilpatrick wrote that Islam was “well on its way to controlling the public square in parts of Europe.”

Last year, the Guardian noted that non-Christian religions such as Islam quadrupled from 1983 to 2015 even as Christianity declined from 55% to 43%. The trend has been so stark that as of last May, the prevalence of Muslims and other migrant communities was the main reason making inner London the most religious area of the United Kingdom.

This is not the first time Dawkins has clashed with Islam. Last July, KPFA Radio in Berkeley, California disinvited him from a planned interview following complaints about his past comments on Islam.

“[W]e didn’t know he had offended and hurt – in his tweets and other comments on Islam, so many people,” the station said in a statement. Dawkins responded with anopen letter declaring he would continue to condemn the “misogyny, homophobia, and violence of Islamism,” and noting that he has been similarly critical of Christianity—to which none of his hosts have ever objected.

“Why do you give Islam a free pass?” he asked. “Why is it fine to criticize Christianity but not Islam?”

Algeria Begins Shutting Down Churches…

A church in northern Algeria has been shut down by the government earlier this month as part of the crackdown on non-Muslim places of worship.

According to World Watch Monitor, the village church in Azagher, which has been running for over six years, was ordered to cease all activities on March 2. The church leaders have reportedly received notification two weeks earlier that the church must shut down within 15 days.

The notification pointed out that the church building was "originally intended for the poultry business" and did not meet the standards required by law to host a public meeting. It also cited the buildings' lack of a second exit or fire extinguisher.

Additionally, the notice contended that the church had contradicted a 2008 law "concerning the conditions of entry of foreigners into Algerian territory and their residence, as well as their movements" because it was led by a pastor from the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The church in Azagher was the fourth one closed by the authorities in the past four months. The three other churches were affiliated with Algeria's main Protestant-church body, the Protestant Church of Algeria (known by its French acronym EPA), and located in or around the town of Oran, 600 km west of Akbou.

Although the EPA is officially recognized by the government, 25 affiliated churches still received notifications to comply with safety standards in the past few months.

Some Christian advocacy groups have expressed concern that the closures were part of a "coordinated campaign of intensified action against churches by the governing authorities."

However, the Algerian Minister of Religious Affairs, Mohamed Aissa, denied earlier this month that the government is discriminating against the country's Christian minority and said that the churches "did not meet the standards required of a place of worship."

"The institutions that were closed have been closed down because they were built without complying with the regulations of the Republic," Aissa said, adding that a building must be closed if it lacks emergency exits, "even if it is a mosque."

"When a place of worship is built without any notice showing it's a place of worship, which may enable the state to protect it, this place must be closed," he added.

A spokesperson for the EPA noted that the government is simply implementing the 2006 law of regulating non-Muslim worship, which he says is the "legal instrument" that the government uses to "silence the Church"

Under the 2006 law, permission must be obtained before a building can be used for non-Muslim worship, and such worship can take place only in buildings which have been specifically designated for that purpose.

According to Christian charity Open Doors, there are approximately 68,500 Christians among Algeria's estimated population of 40 million. Many of those believers were expatriates, while others are said to be converts from a Muslim background.

Mfalme anaposimamisha enzi yake, tayari kwa kumhudumia.

Hawa ndiyo Malaika Wakuu na wana nafasi muhimu sana katika Jeshi la mbinguni. Ni Malaika wakuu ndiyo mara nyingi hutumwa katika nchi kuleta ujumbe wa Mungu na maonyo kwa wanadamu na kwa manabii.

Biblia Takatifu imetuonya kuwachunguza mitume na manabii. Katika kitabu cha Ufunuo 2:1-2 “ Kwa malaika wa kanisa lililoko Efeso andika; Haya ndiyo anenayo yeye azishikaye hizo nyota saba katika mkono wake wa kuume, yeye aendaye katikati ya vile vinara saba vya dhahabu. Nayajua matendo yako, na taabu yako, na subira yako, na ya kuwa huwezi kuchukuliana na watu wabaya, tena umewajaribu wale wajiitao mitume, nao siyo ukawaona kuwa waongo”

Kwa mujibu wa aya hizi Muhammad s.a.w hastahili kuitwa nabii na mtume wa Mungu wa Kweli, bali anaangukia katika kundi la manabii na mitume wa uongo. Hatufai.

Zaidi ya hapo, Allah ambaye ni adui mkubwa wa Yesu Kristo ambaye ni Mfalme wa Wafalme sio Mwenyezi Mungu.
