Disillusioned at Al-Azhar

Fifteen years ago I was the imam of a mosque in the city of Giza, Egypt, which is where the famous Egyptian pyramids are located. (Imam of a mosque is a position similar to pastor of a Christian church.) I preached the message of the week on Fridays from 12 to 1 in the afternoon, as well as performed other duties.

One Friday the topic of my message was jihad. I told the two hundred fifty people seated on the ground before me: Jihad in Islam is defending the Islamic nation and Islam against the attacks of the enemies. Islam is a religion of peace and only will fight against one who fights it. These infidels, heathens, perverts, Christians and Allah’s grievers, the Jews, out of envy of peaceful Islam and its prophet—they spread the myth that Islam is promulgated by the sword and violence. These infidels, the accusers of Islam, do not acknowledge Allah’s words. At this point I quoted from the Quran: And do not kill anyone whose killing Allah has forbidden, except for a just cause. —Surah 17:33, The Noble Quran When I spoke these words, I was just freshly graduated from Al-Azhar University in Cairo, Egypt —the oldest and most prestigious Islamic university in the world. It serves as the spiritual authority for Islam worldwide. I was teaching at the university, and I was an imam on the weekend at this mosque.

I preached my sermon on jihad that day according to the philosophy of the Egyptian government. Al-Azhar University focused us on the politically correct Islam and purposely overlooked areas of teaching that conflicted with the authority of Egypt . I was preaching what they taught me, but inside I was confused about the truth of Islam. But if I wanted to keep my job and my status at Al-Azhar, I needed to keep my thoughts to myself. After all, I knew what happened to people who differed from Al-Azhar’s agenda. They would be fired and would not be accepted to teach at any other university in the nation.

GERMANY: Construction of mosque halted after German patriots erect ten giant crosses on the building site

The group planted the wooden structures in the small village of Marbach, near Erfurt, in the central eastern state of Thuringia, in early March. The owner of the site has said he plans to take legal action against the activists, named as ‘Citizens for Erfurt.’

The sect of Islam was founded in the 19th Century by Mirza Ghulam Ahmad. The community’s imam, Imam Said Ahmad Arif, said the move by the right-wing demonstrators would not stop the construction of the Mosque.

He  said the demonstrators were in the minority and that the Muslim community had received support from a range of politicians.

On the Citizens for Erfurt Facebook page, the group wrote: ‘We built a sign of identity and our way of life. For the preservation of our culture.’

Evangelical pastor Ricklef Muennich condemned the actions of Citizens for Erfurt. He said: ‘There is no reason to ram ten crosses into the ground as a sign of battle. The cross of Jesus really stands for love, for love of your neighbor and your enemies.

But Corina Herold, spokeswoman in the Thuringia state parliament, said the planting of the crosses was a ‘fundamentally good’ action. She claimed that Muslims do not need a mosque in which to worship and should be content with prayer houses.

A spokesperson for the Thuringia state government said they could not remove the crosses because they had been erected on private land.

UNITED NATIONS: Jordanian Muslim diplomat quits after her “Israel Apartheid Report” gets shot down

A United Nations diplomat from Jordan, Rima Khalaf, stepped down Friday after refusing to withdraw a report accusing Israel of practicing apartheid against Palestinians.  Khalaf is known for promoting an anti-Israeli agenda and has often compared the Jewish state to Nazis.

The Hill  Jordanian diplomat Rima Khalaf, who headed the U.N.’s Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia, said U.N. Secretary General António Guterres urged her to retract her commission’s report after it sparked outrage in Israel and the U.S., according to The New York Times.

Khalaf stood by the report despite the pressure. U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Nikki Haley applauded Khalaf’s resignation, calling her commission’s report “false and defamatory.” She also lauded Guterres for standing against the report and calling for its withdrawal.

“When someone issues a false and defamatory report in the name of the U.N., it is appropriate that the person resign,” Haley said.

The report was authored by a commission made up of 18 Arab U.N. member states, including former U.N. human rights investigator Richard Falk, who has been accused of anti-Semitism and conspiracy theorizing.

Gee, I wonder if UN head Guterres was so quick to go against this latest Muslim defamation effort against Israel because of President Trump’s threat to defund the UN?

Dusseldorf police were also able to construct a likeness of the suspect after a police officer recognised the man at a train station. He now faces up to 15 years in prison when he is sentenced later this month.

After glancing through his criminal record, however, the judge pointed to a case of suspected sexual assault back in Spain, which Souhayl denied. Born in Morocco, Souhayl was reported to have had a history of being involved in petty crime.

FYI:  Hamed Abdel-Samad, an ex-Muslim son of an imam of Egyptian origin, who believes “Islam is a danger to society,” was forced to move out of Germany because he now requires 24/7 security against Muslims threatening to kill him there.

Wiki Abdel-Samad became known to the German public through his book Mein Abschied vom Himmel (My Farewell from Heaven) (2009). Following the book’s publication in Egypt a group issued a fatwa against Abdel-Samad and he was put under police protection.

He criticized the German political establishment for appeasing Islam, while ignoring fears about Islam. According to Abdel-Samad, this behavior created resentment in the German population. In an interview aired on Al-Hafez on June 7, 2013, hardline Egyptian cleric and Al-Azhar professor Mahmoud Shaaban accused Abdel-Samad of committing “heresy” and stated that “he must be killed for being a heretic…if he refuses to recant.”

Washington Times  Authorities said Faris was targeted for revocation because of his terrorism-related conviction but the civil action was based on evidence that he lied during the course of the naturalization process – including fraudulently using another man’s passport when he initially entered the United States in 1994 and lying about the circumstances under which he entered the United States.
