THE EVIL COMMANDMENTS OF ALLAH ON WOMEN

If you are a woman and if you are seriously thinking about converting to Islam, then this article is written especially for you. While you hold the freedom to make your own choices in your life, please read this article as an act of kindness to yourself. Those who deny reality usually pay for their ignorance one way or the other.

Proverbs 22:3: “Shrewd is the one that has seen the calamity and proceeds to conceal himself, but the inexperienced have passed along and must suffer the penalty.”

Muslims often brag that Islam honors and elevates women. However, in reality the opposite is true. Lies can be told, but evidence will always show up bearing the truth. And the truth is Islam oppresses and humiliates women. Presented below is a list of the ten most evil commandments of Allah. These commandments show how women are viewed and treated in Islam. The purpose of this article is to provide a brief summary on each of the evil commandments of Allah regarding women. This will enable the readers to have an overview of the evil teachings of Islam concerning women. This article is dedicated to women all over the world. It is dedicated to our mothers, sisters, wives and daughters.

(1) WIFE IS LIKE FIELD FOR HUSBANDS TO PLOW AS HE WISHES

Surah 2:223: Your wives are as fields for you. You may enter your fields from any place you want. (Sarwar)

Your wives are as a tilth unto you; so approach your tilth when or how you will. (Yusuf Ali)

What a humiliating way to portray one’s wife. How can Allah even compare the sexual rights of the husband over his wife’s body with the action of a man ploughing into a field? This means a Muslim can sexually plough his wife at any time and in any way he wishes. Allah says, “Your wives are as fields for you.” “So approach your tilth when or how you will.”

This Qur’anic verse gives the husband the full authority not only to demand sex from his wife whenever he wants to but also in any desirable sexual position of his preference.

According to Islamic scholar, Abdel Haleem (The Qur’an, Oxford University Press, 2004), this verse was revealed as an answer to the Muslims who heard from the Jews that “a child born from a woman approached from behind would have a squint.” Thus, Allah reassured the Muslims that they can approach their wives from any desirable position of their choice.

By telling Muslim husbands that they can engage in sexual acts with their wives “when or how ye will,” this Qur’anic verse shows that it does not require them to obtain the consent of the wives. Allah only concerns himself with the immediate gratification of the sexual desires of the husbands but not the emotional makeup of the wives. Allah is effectively permitting Muslim husbands to rape their wives. Marital rape is not a crime in Islam. Even if some do not view marital rape as a crime, the fact that Muslim husbands can demand sex without considering the feelings of their wives shows that Allah has lowered the status of the wives to that of a mere sexual object. Is there no mutual respect for each other’s body in the marital relationship between a husband and a wife in Islam?

The laws of God in the Holy Bible are different. In matters of sex, the sexual rights of both the husband and the wife are equal. They are mutual. Jehovah God does not extol the rights of the husband above the rights of that of his wife.

1 Corinthians 7:4-5: The wife does not exercise authority over her own body, but her husband does. Likewise, the husband does not exercise authority over his own body, but his wife does. Do not be depriving each other of your marital rights except by mutual consent for an appointed time.”

Only a true Creator would recognize the feelings and the emotional makeup of women. And Jehovah’s divine laws harmonize with his intimate knowledge of his creation – both male and female. Only He can be our Creator.

According to teachings of Islam, if a wife does not engage in sex with her husband when he demands her for it, then the angels of Allah will curse her until daybreak.

Sahih Bukhari, Volume 7, Book 62, Number 121:

Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, “If a man invites his wife to sleep with him and she refuses to come to him, then the angels send their curses on her till morning.”

Sahih Bukhari, Volume 7, Book 62, Number 122:

Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet said, “If a woman spends the night deserting her husband’s bed (does not sleep with him), then the angels send their curses on her till she comes back (to her husband).”

It is mystifying to learn why the angels of Allah are so concerned about the sexual indulgence of the Muslim husbands.

(2) MEN HAVE A STATUS ABOVE WOMEN

Surah 2:228: Men have a status above women. God is Majestic and Wise. (Sarwar)

But men have a rank above them. God is almighty and all wise. (W. Khan)

We should not mistakenly conclude that this Qur’anic verse is the same as the Bible’s reference to the role of the Christian headship in 1 Corinthians 11:3. The role of headship of the Christian husband in the Bible refers primarily to the position of the husband’s God-given responsibility to lead and care for his wife and his children. It does not in any way signify that he is superior to his wife. In the eyes of the true God, they are equal.

Galatians 3:28: There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor freeman, there is neither male nor female for you are all one in union with Christ Jesus.

Christian husbands are commanded by their God to love and honor their wives. They are even expected to lay down their lives to protect their wives if it is required of them.

Ephesians 5:25: “Husbands, continue loving your wives, just as the Christ also loved the congregation delivering up himself for it.”

1 Peter 3:7: “You husbands, continue dwelling in like manner with them according to knowledge, assigning them honor.”

To honor someone means to hold that individual in high esteem. Thus, a Christian husband is required to consider the opinions, needs, and wants of his wife. That is how a husband is expected to deal with his wife in a Christian marriage. The husband’s headship in a Christian marriage is built on deep, self-sacrificing love.

However, in Islam it is totally a different concept. The Qur’anic phrase, “men are a degree above them” refers to the superiority of the Muslim men over the women in Islam. This gender discrimination in Islam is evident in many of its teachings. The lower status of women is not confined only to her position as a wife in the marriage union but women as a whole are looked down and dishonored in Islam.

Incredible as this may sound, even her eternal salvation is affected by of her gender. The following Hadith clearly substantiates this ugly truth. As you read the following Hadith, please bear in mind the teaching of predestination in Islam. According to Islam, all those in the “Islamic Hell” are predestined by Allah to spend their eternity there. Therefore, for the majority of the inhabitants of “Hell” to consist of women means that Allah must have predestined more women than men to be punished there.

Sahih Bukhari, Volume 4, Book 54, Number 464:

Narrated ‘Imran bin Husain: The Prophet said, “I looked at Paradise and found poor people forming the majority of its inhabitants; and I looked at Hell and saw that the majority of its inhabitants were women.”

The following Hadith explains that the reason for the majority of the inhabitants of “Hell” to consist of women is because of their ungratefulness to their husbands.

Sahih Bukhari, Volume 7, Book 62, Number 125:

Narrated ‘Abdullah bin Abbas: “Then I (Muhammad) saw the Hell-Fire, and I have never before, seen such a horrible sight as that, and I saw that the majority of its dwellers were women.” The people asked, “O Allah’s Apostle! What is the reason for that?” He replied, “Because of their ungratefulness.” It was said. “Do they disbelieve in Allah (are they ungrateful to Allah)?” He replied, “They are not thankful to their husbands and are ungrateful for the favors done to them. Even if you do good to one of them all your life, when she seems some harshness from you, she will say, ‘I have never seen any good from you.’”

It appears that Muhammad had some sort of an animosity towards women. In fact, he believed that women are an evil omen. His extremely superstitious attitude shows that his previous pagan background still influenced his thinking even after he became a Prophet.

Sahih Bukhari, Volume 4, Book 52, Number 111:

Narrated By Sahl bin Sad Saidi: Allah’s Apostle said, “If there is any evil omen in anything, then it is in the woman, the horse and the house.”

In Islam, the majority of women will end up in “Hell” simply for being born as a woman. In contrast, the Bible speaks positively about the salvation of women. In fact, it says that the women declaring the good news about God are a large army. This mean a great many women are in a favored position of their Creator.

Psalms 68:11: Jehovah himself gives the saying: The women telling the good news are a large army.

(3) DOUBLE SHARE OF THE INHERITANCE FOR MALE OVER FEMALE

Surah 4:11: Allah enjoins you concerning your children: The male shall have the equal of the portion of two females. (Shakir)

Allah thus directs you as regards your Children’s Inheritance: to the male, a portion equal to that of two females. (Yusuf Ali)

Does not this verse mathematically establish the fact that Islam is discriminatory towards women? This Islamic law is both repressive and unjust. Among many civilized nations, inheritance is divided equally among all siblings, regardless of the gender. No laws such as this, either secular or religious, exist among those who are not Muslims. Thus, the laws of ordinary humans are far more compassionate towards women than those of Allah’s.

Allah concerned himself with perishable material inheritance. And he gave unfair laws in favor of the males. However, Jehovah reveals wherein lies the true wealth of a man.

Proverbs 19:14: The inheritance from fathers is a house and wealth, but a prudent wife is from Jehovah.

Jehovah knows the worth of a precious wife.

(4) A WOMAN’S TESTIMONY IS HALF OF A MAN’S TESTIMONY

Surah 2:282: Call in two of your men as witnesses. But if two men cannot be found, then call one man and two women out of those you approve of as witnesses, so that if one of the two women should forget the other can remind her. (W. Khan)

Once again, does not this verse mathematically establish the fact that Islam is discriminatory towards women? According to this Qur’anic verse, the reason for having two women witnesses is that women are forgetful and needs another to remind her. This verse assails the very nature of womankind, and implies that a woman’s mind is weak. It also suggests that only women are forgetful whereas men are not. Is it really true that men are less forgetful than women?

The following Hadith will remove any ambiguity as to what Surah 2:282 actually means when it speaks about a woman’s mental ability.

Sahih Bukhari, Volume 3, Book 48, Number 826:

Narrated Abu Said Al-Khudri: The Prophet said, “Isn’t the witness of a woman equal to half of that of a man?” The women said, “Yes.” He said, “This is because of the deficiency of a woman’s mind.”

The reason for diminishing women’s role in court is clear enough. It is because Muhammad simply believed and taught that women have deficient minds. Surah 2:282 clearly states that a second female witness is needed to remind the first witness since a female witness may “forget.” Thus, both the Qur’an and the Hadith match up well in this matter of degrading women. Since the testimony of woman is only half of that of a man, how can a Muslim woman who is raped by a Muslim man testify against him?

(5) A DIVORCED WIFE MAY REMARRY HER HUSBAND ONLY IF SHE HAS SEX WITH A SECOND MAN

Surah 2:230: So if a husband divorces his wife (irrevocably), He cannot, after that, re-marry her until after she has married another husband and He has divorced her. In that case, there is no blame on either of them if they re-unite. (Yusuf Ali)

Surah 2:230 is one of the most unethical religious decrees ever to be issued. This verse makes it clear that if the husband divorces his wife irrevocably, she shall not be lawful to him after that, until she marries another man. For instance, if a Muslim man were to orally utter “talak” three times (talak means “I divorce you”) in a moment of anger, but then has a change of mind, he cannot continue to remain as her husband after that. He cannot even remarry her even if both want to start over again. Islamic law demands that the wife must first marry and have intercourse with another man, and who in turn has to divorce her again, before it becomes lawful for the original couple to remarry.

Allah only allows a reunification if she follows the Qur’anic steps of marrying someone else, consummating that marriage, and then is divorced by the second husband. Thus, Allah punishes the wife for the hasty decision made by the husband in a moment of anger. Allah also humiliates her by subjecting her to engage in sexual intercourse with a total stranger on her way back to a possible reunion with her first husband.

Sir W. Muir, the celebrated biographer of the Prophet, wrote:

However unjust or injurious the action, how much severe the result of passion or caprice, however it may affect the interests not only of an innocent wife, but also of her innocent children, however desirous the husband may be of undoing the wrong, – the decision cannot be recalled; the divorced wife can return to her husband but on one condition, and that is that she shall first be married to another man, and after cohabitation (to the fullest extent) be again divorced. (The Life of Mahomet).

It must be made very, very clear that Allah is principally responsible for this gross injustice to a Muslim wife. In Islam all that is required for a husband to divorce his wife is to orally utter “talaq” three times and that is it. If it is not for Allah’s easy divorce laws, a Muslim man will never be able to divorce his wife irrevocably in a heated moment of anger. Who then do you think is to be blamed for this tragedy?

Because of Allah’s easy divorce laws, a Muslim man may divorce his wife irrevocably in a moment of anger. He may not have actually meant it in his heart. He later regrets his action and wants to restore her for himself. Of course, she too would like to go back to her husband and her children who may be still very young. Is it reasonable, according to basic human values of chastity and dignity, for Allah to state that it is not permissible for the woman to return to her husband and children unless she has sexual intercourse – at least once – with a total stranger before she is restored to her husband and children again?

We need to ask, “Why is Allah punishing the wife in this extremely humiliating way, for the hasty utterance of the easy Islamic divorce formula said in a moment of anger by the foolish husband?” Is this not discrimination against an innocent wife?

(6) THE RIGHT TO RAPE FEMALE PRISONERS OF WAR

Surah 4:24: Also forbidden are married women, except those who have passed into your hands as prisoners of war. This is a commandment of God to you. (W. Khan)

Muslim scholars agree that this Qur’anic verse makes it lawful for Muslim men to rape women prisoners of war. Islamic record shows that married female captives were raped in the presence of their husbands with the blessing of Allah.

Tafsir Ibn Kathir on Surah 4:24:

The Ayah (verses) means Also (forbidden are) women already married, except those whom your right hands possess.), you are prohibited from marrying women who are already married. Except those whom your right hands possess) except those whom you acquire through war, for you are allowed such women after making sure they are not pregnant.

Imam Ahmad recorded that Abu Sa`id Al-Khudri said, “We captured some women from the area of Awtas who were already married, and we disliked having sexual relations with them because they already had husbands. So, we asked the Prophet about this matter, and this Ayah was revealed, (Also (forbidden are) women already married, except those whom your right hands possess). Accordingly, we had sexual relations with these women.”

Sunan Abu Dawud, Volume 2, Book V, Chapter 711, Number 2150:

Abu Sa’id al-Khudri said: The Apostle of Allah sent a military expedition to Awtas on the occasion of the battle of Hunain. They met their enemy and fought with them.  They defeated them and took them captives.  Some of the Companions of the Apostle of Allah were reluctant to have intercourse with the female captives in the presence of their husbands who were unbelievers. So Allah, the Exalted, send down the Qur’anic verse: “And all married women (are forbidden) unto you save those (captives) whom your right hand possess.” – Surah 4 An-Nisa 24.

Thus, Islam allows forced sex with helpless women in their most vulnerable condition. Even according to the basic laws of civilized humans, no sexual acts should take place between the women captives – married or not – and their captors. Thus, Allah’s laws are inferior to the laws of humans.

According to Surah 4:24, Muslim men are authorized by Allah to gratify their carnal desires by raping the female captives of war. Captured women were raped and shared among the Muslim warriors. These women are the defenseless mothers, wives, daughters, and sisters of men slain in battle by the Muslim warriors. This utterly shameful conduct of raping captives is sanctioned by Allah and enshrined in the Qur’an and the Hadith. Listen carefully as Allah tells his Prophet:

Surah 33:50: O Prophet! Lo! We have made lawful unto thee thy wives unto whom thou hast paid their dowries and those whom thy right hand possesseth of those whom Allah hath given thee as spoils of war. (Pickthall)

Allah made it lawful for Muhammad to rape helpless women. Please read the following divine commandments of Jehovah in the Holy Bible:

Leviticus 18:20: “Do not have sexual relations with your neighbor’s wife and defile yourself with her.”

If Jehovah does not even permit his worshipper to engage in illicit intercourse with his neighbor’s wife who may be a consenting partner, do you think he would allow his worshippers to rape helpless women?

(7) MEN ARE PERMITTED TO BE POLYGAMOUS

Surah 4:3: If you fear that you cannot deal fairly with orphan girls, you may marry women of your choice, two or three or four. (W. Khan)

Muslim men are allowed to marry up to four women at the same time. Of course, they are allowed to replace any of these wives with newer ones as long as it is kept within the limit of four at a time. Allah expects a faithful Muslim wife to share her only husband with other women.

In addition, Muslim men are also allowed to have sex with as many slave-girls as they possibly can acquire. According to the laws of Allah, Muslim men are allowed engage in sexual intercourse with their slave-girls without the requirement of marriage to them. Thus, in addition to the legal wives, Muslim men can also seek sexual pleasure from their slave-girls. While this practice may not be common today, it is nevertheless sanctioned by Allah in the Qur’an. This means the limit on four wives is a deception.

Surah 23:5-6: “…and restrain their carnal desires except with their spouses and slave-girls. The practice of carnal relations is lawful with them.” (Sarwar)

The great Muslim scholar, Ibn Kathir, explains the above verse:

(And those who guard their private parts. Except from their wives and their right hand possessions, for then, they are free from blame. But whoever seeks beyond that, then those are the transgressors.) means, those who protect their private parts from unlawful actions and do not do that which Allah has forbidden; fornication and homosexuality, and do not approach anyone except the wives whom Allah has made permissible for them or their right hand possessions from the captives. One who seeks what Allah has made permissible for him is not to be blamed and there is no sin on him.

Slave-girls are not wives, otherwise Allah would not have used the word “or” when speaking of the permissibility of sexual intercourse with slave-girls. In the Holy Bible, Jehovah God warns:

Hebrews 13:4: “Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral.”

Jehovah in his wisdom knew that a single wife is sufficient for a single man. That is why he gave just one wife to Adam. Jesus also testified to this truth:

Matthew 19:4-5: And Jesus said in reply, “Have ye not read that he who made them from the beginning made them male and female. For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife; and the two shall become one flesh?

The Bible does not say that the five – four plus one – will become one flesh but the two will become one flesh. The Christian standard of marriage is the one established by God at the beginning in Eden where he gave Adam only one living wife. This was the standard at the start of mankind’s creation and this is the standard that Christians uphold today. The practice of polygamy was far from the standard of monogamy that God had set in the Garden of Eden.

(8) A HUSBAND CAN SIMPLY GET RID OF ONE OF HIS WIVES

Surah 4:20: And if ye wish to exchange one wife for another and ye have given unto one of them a sum of money however great, take nothing from it. (Pickthall)

This Qur’anic verse makes it permissible for a Muslim man to dismiss any one of his wives and replace her with another as long as he takes nothing from the dower that he originally gave to obtain her as his wife. This is the only condition for the exchange. Thus, if a man desires to exchange one wife for another, it is of no consequence to Allah except that the dower should not be taken back.

This Islamic doctrine can easily lead to the abuse of the marriage institution. Essentially, this Islamic rule turns wives into nothing more than prostitutes. This is shown in the life of Hassan, a grandson of Muhammad. Hassan, over the course of his life, had over three-hundred wives, yet never exceeded the four-wife limit at any one time. He would marry a woman during the day, enjoy her company for one or a few nights, and then divorce her so that he could marry another, all within the bounds of Islamic law.

In Islam, a man is free to divorce his wife for a reason or for no reason and at any time he wishes. The above Qur’anic text clearly demonstrates that according to the laws of Allah, a wife is like a piece of purchased merchandise that a husband can easily replace.

The above Islamic rulings are the true authentic teachings of Allah and his Prophet as it is taught in the Qur’an. But today, we may find laws on marriage and divorce that are more merciful and reasonable in some Islamic countries. These laws are often passed off as the true teachings of Islam. This is a blatant lie. For example, some Muslim governments have enacted laws that require a husband to seek permission from his wife before marrying another. There is no such clause in the Qur’an. According to the written law of Allah, a Muslim man simply has the right to add or replace one wife with another.

In complete contrast, please consider how Jehovah, the true God, views the act of divorcing. During the fifth century B.C.E., divorce was rampant among the Jews. Through the prophet Malachi, Jehovah warned the nation of Israel:

Malachi 2:14: “Jehovah hath been a witness between thee and the wife of thy youth, against whom thou hast dealt treacherously, though she is the wife of thy covenant.”

Jehovah God viewed the “weeping and sighing” of these betrayed wives with precious concern. The tears of these women were spoken of as covering the “alter of Jehovah.”

Malachi 2:13: And this is the second thing that you people do, this resulting in covering with tears the altar of Jehovah, with weeping and sighing.

As a loving Creator, Jehovah felt compassion for these betrayed wives at the hands of their treacherous husbands. He understood their pain. In the following verses, he strongly expressed his feelings about this deplorable attitude towards marriage in Malachi’s time:

Malachi 2:15-16: “And you people must guard yourselves respecting your spirit, and with the wife of your youth may no one deal treacherously. For Jehovah has hated a divorcing.”

Consequently, Jehovah told them:

Malachi 3:5-6: “And I will come near to you people for the judgment; and I will be a speedy witness against the sorcerers, and against the adulterers, and against the false swearers, and against those that oppress the hireling in his wages, the widow, and the fatherless, and that turn aside the alien resident from his right, while they have not feared me. Jehovah of armies has said. I am Jehovah. I have not changed.”

These are the hallmarks of a true Creator.

(9) HUSBANDS ARE ALLOWED TO BEAT THEIR WIVES

One of the most controversial issues in Islam is the Qur’an’s authorization for husbands to beat their wives.

Surah 4:34: As for those from whom ye fear rebellion, admonish them and banish them to beds apart, and scourge them. (Pickthall)

As to those on whose part you fear desertion, admonish them, and leave them alone in the sleeping-places and beat them. (Shakir)

On account of the revelation of this single Qur’anic verse, wife-beating became an acceptable form of behavior in Islam. As a result of this Qur’anic verse which was revealed by Allah to settle domestic disputes, many Muslim women in the time of Muhammad suffered from domestic violence.

Sahih Bukhari, Volume 7, Book 72, Number 715:

Narrated ‘Ikrima: Rifa’a divorced his wife whereupon ‘AbdurRahman bin Az-Zubair Al-Qurazi married her. ‘Aisha said that the lady (came), wearing a green veil (and complained to her (Aisha) of her husband and showed her a green spot on her skin caused by beating). It was the habit of ladies to support each other, so when Allah’s Apostle came, ‘Aisha said, “I have not seen any woman suffering as much as the believing women. Look! Her skin is greener than her clothes!”

In Riyad al-Salihin, “The Orchards of Righteous Men” (p. 107-108), Imam al-Nawawi chronicled the following incident:

Umar Ibn al-Khattab came to Muhammad saying, ‘Women have dared to disobey husbands.’ He allowed their husbands to scourge them. Many women approached Muhammad complaining against their husbands because Muhammad received a verse for the Qur’an which commands their husbands to scourge them.

In Ahkamal-Qur’an (the Ordinances of the Qur’an), Vol. 1, p. 211, Imam Shafi’i wrote the following:

In case of a husband’s ill-treatment (of his spouse), the Qur’an permits reconciliation of the spouses and arbitration, but in the case of the wife it allows scourging her.

Sunan Abu Dawud, Book 11, Number 2142:

Narrated Umar ibn al-Khattab: The Prophet (pbuh) said: A man will not be asked as to why he beat his wife.

While Allah gave a command in the Qur’an for husbands to beat their wives, he could not give a command for husbands to love their wives. In contrast, consider the loving teachings of Jehovah. In the Bible, Christian husbands are given the following commandment:

Ephesians 5:28-30: “In the same way husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ does the church.”

Just as the husband will not hurt himself, neither is he allowed to hurt his wife. This is the kind of love that is required of a Christian husband. This is the kind of love that he is commanded to demonstrate towards his wife. Wife-beating is not an option in Christianity. It is forbidden. The laws of Jehovah are the laws of a loving Creator.

(10) MEN ARE ALLOWED TO MARRY PRE-PUBESCENT GIRLS

Surah 65:4: “And those of your women as have passed the age of monthly courses, for  them the ‘Iddah (prescribed period), if you have doubts (about their periods), is three months, and for those who have no courses (i.e. they are still immature) their ‘Iddah (prescribed period) is three months likewise, except in case of death. And for those who are pregnant (whether they are divorced or their husbands are dead), their ‘Iddah (prescribed period) is until they deliver (their burdens), and whosoever fears Allah and keeps his duty to Him, He will make his matter easy for him.” (Hilali-Khan)

Regarding sex with pre-pubescent children, well-known scholar, Sayyid Abul Ala Maududi states the following in his Commentary on Surah 65:4 in Tafhim al Qur’an, Volume 5, p. 620, note 13:

Here, one should bear in mind the fact that according to the explanations given in the Quran the question of the waiting period arises in respect of the women with whom marriage may have been consummated, for there is no waiting-period in case divorce is pronounced before the consummation of marriage. (Al-Ahzab: 49). Therefore, making mention of the waiting-period for girls who have not yet menstruated, clearly proves that it is not only permissible to give away the girl at this age but it is permissible for the husband to consummate marriage with her. Now, obviously no Muslim has the right to forbid a thing which the Qur’an has held as permissible.

Sahih Bukhari, Volume 7, Book 62, Number 63:

Narrated Sahl bin Sad: “The Prophet said, “Go, I have agreed to marry her to you with what you know of the Qur’an (as her Mahr).” “And for those who have no courses (i.e. they are still immature). (65.4) And the ‘Iddat for the girl before puberty is three months (in the above Verse).”

According to the Qur’an, the requirement for a divorced pre-pubescent wife to observe “Iddat (the waiting period of three months) only becomes necessary if her marriage is consummated. Thus, Muslim husbands are allowed to consummate the marriage with their child-wives. By permitting men to have sex with minors, Islam legitimizes and sanctions an act that is regarded as pedophilia by the rest of the civilized world. And the Prophet of Islam set the example when married a six-year-old child.

Sahih Bukhari, Volume 7, Book 62, Number 64:

Narrated By ‘Aisha : That the Prophet married her when she was six years old and he consummated his marriage when she was nine years old, and then she remained with him for nine years (i.e., till his death).

Sahih Muslim, Book 008, Number 3309:

‘Aisha (Allah be pleased with her) reported: Allah’s Messenger (pbuh) married me when I was six years old, and I was admitted to his house at the age of nine.

While Jesus loved children and spoke highly of their innocence, Muhammad made love to children and robbed their innocence.

Mark 9:42: “Whoever causes one of these little children who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him if a great millstone were hung round his neck and he were thrown into the sea.”

HOW ISLAM VIEWS WOMEN

Aisha the favorite wife of Muhammad expressed the following words in anger:

You have put us on the same level with a donkey and a dog.”

But why did Aisha make such a statement? Because the Prophet of Islam said that if a man is praying and a donkey, a dog or a woman passes in front of him, his prayer will not be acceptable, and he has to perform ablution again and repeat his prayer. No Muslim scholars question the validity of this statement regarding women. It is accepted by all the scholars of Islam that whenever a woman passes in front of a man while he is praying or if a dog or a donkey walks in front of him, he has to wash himself again and repeat his prayer. Otherwise, his prayer will not be accepted by Allah.

Sahih Bukhari, Volume 1, Book 9, Number 490:

Narrated ‘Aisha: The things which annul the prayers were mentioned before me. They said, “Prayer is annulled by a dog, a donkey and a woman (if they pass in front of the praying people).” I said, “You have made us (i.e. women) dogs.”

In his book, “Al-Muhalla,” “The Sweetened” (part 4, p. 8), Ibn Hazm says:

“A prayer is rescinded by a dog, whether it is passing by or not, and by a woman and a donkey!”

The great Muslim theologian, Ibn Hazm (994 C.E.-1064 C.E.) emphasized that all the great companions of the prophet without exception attested to the above teaching of Muhammad. Then he records on page 11 the words of Aisha:

You have put us on the same level with a donkey and a dog.”

Why is the presence of a woman regarded as similar to the presence of a donkey or a dog? Why is Allah unable to accept the prayers of his worshippers just because a woman happens to pass in front of them? What is the rationale behind this ruling? It is vital for women to ponder over these disturbing questions. Women who blindly rush to convert to Islam should pause to reflect on these evil commandments of Allah mentioned here in this article.

The Qur’an is too malicious towards women to be inspired by the true God. The teachings of the Qur’an and the Hadith dishonor women. The founder of Islam was not the least troubled to openly declare that women have deficient minds. Women who support Islam are unwittingly proving Muhammad right. The religion itself is not women-friendly. The oppression of women is not accidental or incidental or an aberration of Islam, but it is an intricate part of its theology. Committed Muslims are much more likely to enslave women than liberate them. The problem lies with Islam.

Islam is the fundamental cause for the repression of woman. The subjugation and enslavement of women produces the oxygen that Islam needs to breathe. The life-blood of Islam is the Sharia Legal System. The subjugation of women helps to keep the foundation of Islamthe Sharia Legal System – intact. Thus, the liberation of women is a threat to Islam itself. More is at stake for Islam than the dignity of women.

By Dr. Maxwell Shimba
Shimba Theological Institute

In today's digital world, people are constantly searching for stronger Wi-Fi signals, faster internet speeds, and better connections. We become frustrated when our devices lose signal because we know that without a connection, communication stops.

But there is a far more important connection that many people neglect—their connection with God.

The strongest connection you can ever have is not to the internet but to your Creator. The password to that connection is PRAYER.

Prayer is not merely a religious tradition or a daily routine. It is a personal conversation with the living God. Through prayer, we enter His presence, cast our burdens upon Him, receive His peace, and align our hearts with His will. God is not impressed by eloquent speeches or perfect religious language. He desires sincere hearts that seek Him with faith and humility.

The Bible reminds us:

"Pray without ceasing." (1 Thessalonians 5:17, KJV)

Prayer is not reserved for emergencies. It is the lifestyle of every believer.

When you are weak, pray.

When you are afraid, pray.

When you are confused, pray.

When you are grateful, pray.

When your heart is broken, pray.

When no one understands your pain, pray.

Prayer invites God's strength into our weakness. It brings peace in the middle of storms, wisdom in difficult decisions, hope in seasons of discouragement, and courage when fear surrounds us. Many battles that cannot be won through human ability are won through persistent prayer.

Jesus Himself demonstrated the necessity of prayer. Before choosing His disciples, before facing the cross, and throughout His earthly ministry, He frequently withdrew to pray (Luke 6:12; Luke 22:39–46). If the Son of God depended upon prayer, how much more should we?

Prayer does not always change our circumstances immediately, but it always changes us. It strengthens our faith, deepens our trust, and reminds us that God remains in control even when we cannot see what He is doing. Delayed answers are not evidence of God's absence. Often, they are evidence that He is working according to His perfect wisdom and timing.

The Scriptures encourage us:

"The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much." (James 5:16, KJV)

History is filled with testimonies of lives transformed through prayer. Families have been restored. Addictions have been broken. Hearts have been healed. Doors that seemed permanently closed have been opened by the mighty hand of God.

Never underestimate the power of sincere prayer.

Stay connected to God every day through His Word and through prayer. The stronger your fellowship with Him, the stronger your faith becomes in the face of life's challenges.

Your phone needs charging.

Your computer needs updating.

Your soul needs communion with God.

So today, reconnect with the One who never loses signal, never experiences outages, and never ignores those who call upon Him in faith.

📶 Stay Connected to God.

🔑 The Password Is Always: PRAYER.

"Truly This Was the Son of God!" — What the Roman Centurion Learned at the Cross

"Truly This Was the Son of God!" — What the Roman Centurion Learned at the Cross

How the Crucifixion Revealed the Deity of Jesus Christ

By Dr. Maxwell Shimba
Shimba Theological Institute

Matthew 27:54 (KJV):
"Now when the centurion, and they that were with him, watching Jesus, saw the earthquake, and those things that were done, they feared greatly, saying, Truly this was the Son of God."

One of the most astonishing confessions in the entire New Testament did not come from one of Jesus' disciples, a Jewish priest, or a religious scholar. It came from a hardened Roman centurion—a military officer who had just supervised the crucifixion of Jesus Christ.

This raises an important theological question:

What did this Roman soldier witness that convinced him Jesus was the Son of God?

The answer reaches far beyond the physical crucifixion. The centurion encountered undeniable evidence that the man hanging on the cross was unlike any other human being. Every event surrounding Jesus' death revealed His divine identity.

1. The Centurion Had Witnessed Hundreds of Executions

Roman centurions were professional executioners.

They had crucified thieves, rebels, murderers, and political enemies. Death by crucifixion was familiar to them. They had seen people curse, scream, beg for mercy, and die in hatred.

But Jesus was completely different.

Instead of cursing His executioners, Jesus prayed:

"Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do." (Luke 23:34)

The centurion had never seen a condemned man pray for those who were murdering him.

Such divine forgiveness pointed to a supernatural character.

2. Jesus Demonstrated Absolute Authority While Dying

Even while nailed to the cross, Jesus exercised authority that belongs only to God.

He promised eternal life to the repentant thief:

"Today shalt thou be with me in paradise." (Luke 23:43)

No prophet ever claimed authority to admit someone into Paradise by his own word.

Jesus did.

Only God possesses authority over eternal destiny.

3. Jesus Controlled the Moment of His Death

Ordinary victims of crucifixion slowly died from exhaustion or suffocation.

Jesus did not simply die.

Scripture says:

"He yielded up the ghost." (Matthew 27:50)

John records Jesus saying beforehand:

"No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself." (John 10:18)

This is an extraordinary claim.

Jesus was not overcome by death.

He voluntarily surrendered His life.

Death obeyed Him.

4. Nature Responded to Its Creator

As Jesus hung upon the cross, extraordinary cosmic events occurred.

  • Darkness covered the land.

  • The earth shook violently.

  • Rocks split apart.

  • Tombs opened.

  • The temple veil was torn from top to bottom.

Creation itself reacted.

Why?

Because the One through whom all things were created (John 1:3; Colossians 1:16) was accomplishing redemption.

The centurion understood that these were not ordinary natural events.

5. Jesus Fulfilled Ancient Prophecy

Everything occurring at Calvary fulfilled prophecies written centuries earlier.

  • His hands and feet were pierced (Psalm 22:16).

  • Soldiers cast lots for His garments (Psalm 22:18).

  • He was mocked (Psalm 22).

  • He was given vinegar to drink (Psalm 69:21).

  • Not one of His bones was broken (Psalm 34:20).

This was not coincidence.

This was divine fulfillment.

6. The Temple Veil Was Torn by God

Matthew records:

"The veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom."

The veil separated sinful humanity from God's holy presence.

Its tearing from top to bottom symbolized God's action—not man's.

The sacrifice of Jesus had opened direct access to God.

Only the true Lamb of God could accomplish this.

7. Jesus Died Like No Other Man

Even His final words demonstrated divine majesty.

"Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit."

Unlike every other human being, Jesus willingly entrusted His spirit because He possessed authority over life itself.

The centurion realized this was no defeated criminal.

This was a King.

Did the Centurion Fully Understand the Trinity?

Probably not.

As a Roman soldier, he likely did not yet possess a complete theological understanding of the Trinity.

However, he recognized something unmistakable:

Jesus possessed a divine identity unlike any man he had ever seen.

His confession was the beginning of theological revelation.

Later New Testament writers would explain more fully what the centurion had only begun to perceive.

Why "Son of God" Means Equality with God

Some people mistakenly think the title "Son of God" means Jesus is merely a created being.

The Jews themselves understood otherwise.

When Jesus called God His Father,

"the Jews sought the more to kill him... because he said that God was his Father, making himself equal with God." (John 5:18)

In first-century Judaism, claiming unique Sonship meant sharing the Father's nature.

Just as a human son possesses human nature,

the eternal Son possesses the divine nature.

This explains why Jesus accepted worship, forgave sins, claimed eternal existence, and declared:

"Before Abraham was, I AM." (John 8:58)

The divine name revealed to Moses belonged to Him.

Jesus Is Not Only the Son of God—He Is God Manifested in Flesh

The New Testament repeatedly affirms this truth.

  • John 1:1 — "The Word was God."

  • John 1:14 — "The Word was made flesh."

  • Colossians 2:9 — "In him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily."

  • Hebrews 1:8 — The Father declares of the Son, "Thy throne, O God..."

  • Titus 2:13 — Jesus is called "the great God and our Saviour."

  • John 20:28 — Thomas worshipped Jesus, saying, "My Lord and my God."

The Bible does not merely teach that Jesus resembles God.

It teaches that Jesus is God incarnate.

The Greatest Sermon Was Preached at the Cross

Ironically, one of the first public confessions of Jesus' divine identity after His death came from a Gentile soldier.

Not from Caiaphas.

Not from Pilate.

Not from the religious elite.

But from the very man assigned to oversee His execution.

Standing beneath the cross, the centurion looked upon Jesus and declared:

"Truly this was the Son of God."

The cross became more than an instrument of death.

It became the greatest revelation of God's love, holiness, justice, and glory.

Final Reflection

The Roman centurion came to execute a criminal.

He left having encountered the King of kings.

He arrived to witness an execution.

He departed having witnessed divine revelation.

The One hanging on the cross was not merely another victim of Roman justice.

He was the eternal Word made flesh, the Savior of the world, the Lamb of God, the Lord of glory, and God manifested in the flesh (1 Timothy 3:16).

The confession of the centurion still echoes through history:

"Truly this was the Son of God."

And the whole testimony of Scripture answers:

Yes—Jesus is the eternal Son of God, sharing the very nature of the Father, worthy of all worship, because He is God revealed in human flesh.

Muhammad in Song of Solomon 5:16? A Scholarly Refutation of the Claim

Muhammad in Song of Solomon 5:16? A Scholarly Refutation of the Claim

A Biblical, Linguistic, and Theological Response

By Dr. Maxwell Shimba

Shimba Theological Institute

One of the most frequently repeated Islamic apologetic claims is that the Prophet Muhammad is mentioned by name in Song of Solomon 5:16 through the Hebrew word מַחֲמַדִּים (machămaddîm / mahamadim). It is often alleged that Bible translators deliberately concealed Muhammad's name by translating the word as "altogether lovely" or "most desirable."

This claim does not withstand serious examination. It fails linguistically, grammatically, historically, and theologically.

1. The Hebrew Word Is Not a Proper Name

The Hebrew text reads:

חִכּוֹ מַמְתַקִּים וְכֻלּוֹ מַחֲמַדִּים

"His mouth is sweetness itself, and he is altogether lovely (or desirable)." (Song of Solomon 5:16)

The word machămaddîm (מַחֲמַדִּים) comes from the Hebrew root חמד (ḥmd), meaning:

  • desirable

  • precious

  • delightful

  • pleasant

  • lovely

Every standard Hebrew lexicon agrees on this meaning.

Among them are:

  • Brown-Driver-Briggs Hebrew Lexicon (BDB)

  • HALOT (Hebrew and Aramaic Lexicon of the Old Testament)

  • Gesenius Hebrew Lexicon

None identifies this word as the personal name Muhammad.

2. Hebrew Grammar Refutes the Islamic Claim

The word machămaddîm is a common noun, not a personal name.

Hebrew frequently uses the plural ending -im for intensity, abundance, or poetic expression.

Examples include:

  • delights

  • mercies

  • compassions

This grammatical feature does not transform a common noun into a proper name.

If the author intended to write the Arabic name "Muhammad," he would have used a proper noun—not an ordinary Hebrew adjective.

3. The Same Word Appears Many Times Elsewhere

The singular form machmad (מַחְמָד) appears repeatedly throughout the Old Testament.

Examples include:

  • Ezekiel 24:16

  • Lamentations 1:10

  • Hosea 9:6

  • Isaiah 64:11

  • 1 Kings 20:6

In these passages it refers to:

  • precious possessions

  • beautiful objects

  • desirable things

  • treasured items

No Muslim argues these verses refer to Muhammad.

If machmad always means Muhammad, then Ezekiel's wife would literally be Muhammad, since she is called "the desire of your eyes" (Ezekiel 24:16)—an obviously impossible conclusion.

The Islamic argument is therefore inconsistent.

4. Song of Solomon Is Love Poetry

The literary genre of Song of Solomon is unmistakable.

It is Hebrew wisdom poetry celebrating marital love.

The bride describes:

  • his hair

  • his eyes

  • his cheeks

  • his lips

  • his hands

  • his legs

  • his appearance

Finally she concludes:

"He is altogether lovely."

This is simply the climax of her description.

There is absolutely no indication that she suddenly shifts to predicting a prophet who would appear nearly 2,000 years later.

5. Jewish Interpretation Never Saw Muhammad Here

For over two thousand years:

  • Jewish rabbis

  • Hebrew scholars

  • synagogue teachers

have interpreted Song of Solomon.

None interpreted Song of Solomon 5:16 as referring to Muhammad.

Even medieval Jewish scholars living centuries after Islam rejected this interpretation.

Since Hebrew is the language of the Old Testament, Jewish scholarship deserves serious consideration.

6. Early Christians Never Saw Muhammad Here

The Church Fathers—including:

  • Origen

  • Gregory of Nyssa

  • Augustine

  • Jerome

often interpreted Song of Solomon allegorically.

The Bride represented the Church.

The Beloved represented Christ.

None suggested the passage referred to Muhammad.

If this prophecy were so obvious, why did no Christian scholar discover it during the first six centuries of Christianity?

7. "Muhammad" and "Machmad" Are Not the Same Word

Muslims often argue:

Muhammad comes from the Arabic root:

ḥ-m-d (حمد)

Hebrew uses:

ḥ-m-d (חמד)

Although the roots are related within the Semitic language family, they are not identical in meaning.

Arabic:

ḥ-m-d = praise

Hebrew:

ḥ-m-d = desire, delight, preciousness

Related roots do not prove identity.

English examples illustrate this clearly:

  • history

  • story

Related.

Not identical.

Likewise:

  • father

  • paternal

Related.

Not the same word.

The same linguistic principle applies here.

8. The Qur'an Never Quotes Song of Solomon

The Qur'an claims Muhammad is foretold in previous Scripture (Qur'an 7:157; 61:6).

However, it never cites Song of Solomon.

Later Islamic apologists searched the Bible trying to identify possible references.

Song of Solomon 5:16 became one of many attempted identifications centuries after Muhammad.

This is not evidence.

It is retrospective interpretation.

9. No Evidence of Translator Conspiracy

The accusation that Bible translators deliberately hid Muhammad's name collapses under historical examination.

Modern translations were produced by scholars from:

  • Britain

  • Germany

  • France

  • Israel

  • America

  • Korea

  • Africa

Across hundreds of years.

Many translations were made directly from ancient Hebrew manuscripts that long predate Islam.

The Dead Sea Scrolls, dating from approximately the second century BC to the first century AD, preserve the Hebrew text of Song of Solomon with the same word.

There is no manuscript reading "Muhammad" as a proper name.

No textual evidence exists for the alleged conspiracy.

10. The Context Contradicts the Claim

Immediately after saying:

"He is altogether lovely,"

the woman says:

"This is my beloved and this is my friend, O daughters of Jerusalem."

She is speaking about the same man she has described from head to toe.

The context is immediate, personal, and poetic.

Nothing suggests a future Arabian prophet.

11. Biblical Prophecy Has Clear Characteristics

Authentic biblical prophecy identifies future figures with remarkable specificity.

Examples include:

  • birthplace (Micah 5:2)

  • tribe (Genesis 49:10)

  • family line (2 Samuel 7)

  • suffering (Isaiah 53)

  • triumph (Psalm 110)

No such prophetic indicators appear in Song of Solomon 5.

There is:

  • no prediction

  • no future tense

  • no messianic formula

  • no covenant language

  • no prophetic introduction

It is poetry—not prophecy.

12. Jesus Himself Identified the Focus of Scripture

Jesus declared:

"These are the Scriptures that testify about Me." (John 5:39)

After His resurrection He explained:

"Beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, He interpreted to them the things concerning Himself in all the Scriptures." (Luke 24:27)

The New Testament consistently teaches that the Old Testament points to Christ.

Nowhere does Jesus or His apostles teach that Song of Solomon predicts Muhammad.

Conclusion

The claim that מַחֲמַדִּים (machămaddîm) is the personal name "Muhammad" is unsupported by Hebrew grammar, ancient manuscripts, Jewish interpretation, Christian theology, or historical scholarship.

The word simply means "lovely," "desirable," "precious," or "delightful," fitting perfectly within the poetic description of the beloved in Song of Solomon.

The allegation that translators deliberately removed Muhammad's name from the Bible has no textual or historical evidence.

Christians affirm that the Old Testament reaches its fulfillment in Jesus Christ, not in a prophet who appeared six centuries after the New Testament was completed.

As the Apostle Peter declared:

"For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit." (2 Peter 1:21)

The Bible's prophetic witness consistently centers on the Messiah—Jesus Christ, the incarnate Son of God, crucified, risen, and exalted as Lord of all.

If Allah "Sends Ṣalāh" Upon People, To Whom Is He Praying?

If Allah "Sends Ṣalāh" Upon People, To Whom Is He Praying?

A Theological Examination of the Meaning of Allah's Ṣalāh in Islamic Sources

By Dr. Maxwell Shimba
Shimba Theological Institute

One of the most frequently quoted hadiths in Islam states:

"Whoever sends blessings upon me once, Allah will send blessings upon him ten times."

Sahih Muslim 408; Jami' at-Tirmidhi 485; Sunan an-Nasa'i 1296

Muslim scholars generally translate this as:

"Whoever invokes blessings upon Muhammad once, Allah will bless him tenfold."

At first glance, this appears straightforward. However, a closer examination raises an important theological and linguistic question.

What Does the Arabic Word Ṣallā Mean?

The Arabic verb ṣallā (صلى) is the same root from which Muslims derive the word ṣalāh, meaning prayer. Throughout the Qur'an, Muslims are repeatedly commanded:

"Establish the ṣalāh."

No Muslim understands this command to mean merely "show kindness" or "bestow mercy." Rather, ṣalāh refers to prayer and worship directed toward God.

The same root appears in the hadith concerning Allah:

"Allah sends ṣalāh upon him."

This raises an obvious question:

If ṣalāh fundamentally means prayer, to whom is Allah praying?

The Islamic Explanation

Classical Muslim commentators recognized this difficulty and offered a different definition when the subject is Allah.

They argue that:

  • Human ṣalāh means prayer.

  • Angelic ṣalāh means asking forgiveness.

  • Allah's ṣalāh means mercy, praise, honor, or exaltation.

Thus, the same Arabic word is assigned different meanings depending on who performs the action.

While this explanation has become standard in Islamic theology, it raises an important hermeneutical question:

Is the meaning determined by the text itself, or is it adjusted to avoid theological implications?

A Linguistic Observation

The hadith states:

"Whoever sends ṣalāh upon Muhammad once, Allah sends ṣalāh upon him ten times."

The identical verb (yuṣallī) is used for both humans and Allah.

If the first occurrence means prayer, while the second means blessing or mercy, then the same verb carries two different meanings within the same sentence.

This is not impossible in language, but it does require contextual justification.

The question becomes whether the context itself demands this distinction or whether the distinction is introduced because Islamic theology rejects the possibility that Allah could pray.

A Biblical Contrast

In Scripture, God never prays.

Prayer is always directed upward by creatures toward the Creator.

Jesus prayed during His earthly ministry because He truly became man (Philippians 2:6–8). His prayers reflect the reality of the Incarnation, not a denial of His divine nature. Christian theology distinguishes between Christ's divine nature and His genuine human experience.

The Father is never portrayed as praying.

Likewise, the Holy Spirit intercedes (Romans 8:26), but Scripture never depicts God praying to another deity.

A Question for Islamic Theology

If Allah performs ṣalāh, several theological questions naturally arise:

  • What is the precise meaning of Allah's ṣalāh?

  • Why is the same verb used for both humans and Allah?

  • On what linguistic basis does the meaning change?

  • Does the text itself define the change, or is the interpretation supplied later by theological tradition?

These questions deserve careful scholarly examination rather than dismissal.

Conclusion

The hadith recorded in Sahih Muslim 408, Jami' at-Tirmidhi 485, and Sunan an-Nasa'i 1296 teaches that Allah "sends ṣalāh" upon those who send ṣalāh upon Muhammad.

Islamic scholars generally understand Allah's ṣalāh not as prayer to another deity but as His bestowal of mercy, honor, praise, or exaltation. The discussion therefore is not whether Islam teaches that Allah literally worships another god—it does not—but whether assigning different meanings to the same verb in the same context is linguistically and theologically persuasive.

For students of comparative theology, this discussion illustrates how doctrinal commitments influence the interpretation of sacred texts. It invites readers to examine both the Arabic language and the theological assumptions that shape its interpretation with intellectual honesty and scholarly rigor.

CHILD MARRIAGE: A THEOLOGICAL INDICTMENT OF A SIN AGAINST GOD AND HUMAN DIGNITY

CHILD MARRIAGE: A THEOLOGICAL INDICTMENT OF A SIN AGAINST GOD AND HUMAN DIGNITY

Why Forced Child Marriage Is an Assault on the Image of God

By Shimba Theological Institute

"Whoever receives one such child in My name receives Me." — Matthew 18:5

The suffering of children has always provoked the righteous anger of God. Throughout Scripture, God consistently reveals Himself as the Defender of the weak, the Father of the fatherless, and the Judge of those who exploit the vulnerable. Therefore, any system that robs children of their innocence, freedom, and dignity stands under God's judgment.

Child marriage is not merely a social problem or a cultural issue. It is a profound moral evil. When a child is coerced, pressured, or compelled into marriage before reaching physical, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual maturity, that child is denied the very freedom and dignity that God intended for every human being.

Created in the Image of God

The Bible declares:

"So God created mankind in His own image..." (Genesis 1:27)

Every child bears the image of God (Imago Dei). Children are not property to be exchanged, commodities to be traded, or instruments for political or economic gain. They possess inherent worth bestowed by their Creator.

To violate a child's dignity is to attack the image of God Himself.

No father, tribal leader, religious authority, or government possesses divine authority to treat children as objects rather than persons.

Marriage Is a Sacred Covenant—Not an Instrument of Exploitation

Biblical marriage is founded upon mutual love, covenant commitment, and willing consent.

Scripture teaches:

"Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave Himself up for her." (Ephesians 5:25)

Christ's love is sacrificial—not coercive.

Biblical marriage reflects Christ and His Church. It cannot legitimately be founded upon fear, intimidation, manipulation, or exploitation.

A child lacks the maturity necessary to enter such a covenant freely and responsibly. Forced child marriage therefore contradicts the biblical understanding of marriage itself.

Jesus Elevated Children—He Never Exploited Them

Jesus repeatedly demonstrated extraordinary concern for children.

He welcomed them.

He blessed them.

He protected them.

He warned:

"Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to stumble, it would be better for him to have a great millstone fastened around his neck and to be drowned in the depth of the sea." (Matthew 18:6)

These words reveal the seriousness with which God regards the abuse of children.

Those who exploit children for power, sexuality, financial advantage, or social control stand in direct opposition to the character of Christ.

Forced Marriage Violates God's Justice

The prophets repeatedly condemned societies that oppressed the powerless.

Isaiah proclaimed:

"Learn to do good; seek justice, correct oppression..." (Isaiah 1:17)

Micah declared:

"What does the LORD require of you but to do justice, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?" (Micah 6:8)

Child marriage violates every one of these principles.

Instead of justice, it imposes domination.

Instead of mercy, it inflicts lifelong trauma.

Instead of humility, it elevates power over compassion.

Theological Reflection: Evil Cannot Be Sanctified

History demonstrates that sinful practices have often attempted to hide behind religion, culture, or tradition.

Yet Scripture repeatedly distinguishes between God's revealed will and human corruption.

Jesus rebuked religious leaders who used tradition to nullify God's commands (Mark 7:8–13).

Likewise, no appeal to culture, custom, or religious authority can transform injustice into righteousness.

Whenever children are exploited, God's moral law has been violated.

The Church Must Not Remain Silent

Silence in the face of injustice is never the calling of God's people.

The Church is commissioned to defend those without a voice.

Christians should therefore:

  • Defend the dignity and safety of every child.

  • Oppose forced and child marriage wherever it occurs.

  • Support access to education for girls.

  • Care for survivors with compassion and practical assistance.

  • Encourage governments to uphold laws that protect children from exploitation and abuse.

The Gospel compels believers to stand with victims rather than accommodate systems of oppression.

A Call to Governments and Religious Leaders

Civil authorities bear responsibility before God to protect the vulnerable (Romans 13:1–4).

Religious leaders likewise bear grave responsibility to teach truth rather than justify injustice.

Where children are abused under the cover of religion, faithful leaders must reject such practices and affirm the God-given dignity of every child.

Conclusion

Child marriage is not the will of God.

It is not an expression of biblical love.

It is not an act of justice.

It is not a reflection of Christ.

Whenever children are deprived of their freedom, education, safety, and hope through coercive marriage, humanity witnesses a tragic betrayal of God's design.

The God revealed in Scripture calls His people to defend children—not exploit them.

He calls His Church to protect the vulnerable—not remain silent.

He calls every society to uphold justice—not institutionalize abuse.

May Christians everywhere become courageous advocates for every child whose voice has been silenced.

"Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves... defend the rights of the poor and needy." (Proverbs 31:8–9)

IF ALLAH PROTECTED HIS REVELATION, HOW COULD THE BIBLE BE CORRUPTED?

IF ALLAH PROTECTED HIS REVELATION, HOW COULD THE BIBLE BE CORRUPTED?

A Theological Examination of Qur’anic Preservation, Confirmation, and the Problem of Biblical Corruption Claims

By Dr. Maxwell Shimba — Shimba Theological Institute

Introduction: A Question of Divine Preservation and Consistency

One of the most significant theological questions in Christian-Muslim dialogue concerns the relationship between the Qur’an and the previous Scriptures.

Many Muslim apologists argue that the Torah and the Gospel were originally revelations from God but were later corrupted by human beings. They claim that the Qur’an came to restore the original message.

However, this position raises an important theological challenge:

If the Qur’an teaches that God protects His revelation, how can the same Qur’an support the idea that God's previous revelations were completely corrupted and lost?

If God is the Author of revelation, then divine preservation becomes a question of His faithfulness and sovereignty.

The issue is not merely about manuscripts. It is a deeper theological question:

Can God's revealed Word fail before reaching the people for whom it was given?

1. The Qur’an Presents God as the Protector of Revelation

The Qur’an declares:

“Indeed, We have sent down the Reminder, and indeed We will be its Guardian.”
Qur’an 15:9

Many Muslim scholars understand this verse as a declaration of divine protection of revelation.

The theological question is:

If Allah protects His revelation, why would He allow the Torah and the Gospel—also described as His revelations—to become corrupted before the arrival of the Qur’an?

If God's protection applies only to the Qur’an, then another question arises:

Why would God preserve one revelation but allow His earlier revelations to become unreliable?

A consistent theology must explain why divine preservation would apply selectively.

2. The Qur’an Calls the Torah and Gospel “Revelation from Allah”

The Qur’an does not describe the Torah and Gospel as human books.

It says:

“Indeed, We revealed the Torah, in which was guidance and light.”
Qur’an 5:44

And:

“And We gave him the Gospel, in which was guidance and light.”
Qur’an 5:46

The Qur’an therefore presents these Scriptures as originating from God.

The challenge is:

If the Torah and Gospel were God's guidance and light, at what point did God allow His guidance and light to become corrupted?

The Qur’an does not identify a historical moment when the text itself was lost or replaced.

3. The Qur’an Commands the People of the Gospel to Judge by the Gospel

One of the strongest theological challenges is found in Qur’an 5:47:

“Let the people of the Gospel judge by what Allah has revealed therein.”

This command assumes that the Gospel existed and was accessible to Christians.

The question is unavoidable:

How can Allah command Christians to judge according to the Gospel if the Gospel had already been corrupted and could no longer be trusted?

If the Gospel was corrupted:

  • Which Gospel should Christians follow?

  • Which verses were still authentic?

  • How would they know the difference?

  • Where does the Qur’an provide a correction list identifying the corrupted passages?

Without such guidance, the command becomes difficult to understand.

4. The Qur’an Commands the People of the Book to Uphold the Torah and Gospel

Qur’an 5:68 states:

“O People of the Book, you have no ground until you uphold the Torah and the Gospel…”

This statement presents the Torah and Gospel as meaningful sources of divine authority.

The theological question:

Why would Allah command people to uphold Scriptures that had supposedly been corrupted beyond recognition?

If a document has lost its original message, it cannot serve as a foundation for judgment.

5. The Qur’an Describes Itself as Confirming Previous Scriptures

The Qur’an states:

“And We have revealed to you the Book in truth, confirming what was before it of the Scripture…”
Qur’an 5:48

The word “confirming” (muṣaddiq) is important.

The Qur’an presents itself as standing in continuity with previous revelation.

The challenge:

How can one revelation confirm another revelation while also claiming that the previous revelation is no longer reliable?

Confirmation requires something real to be confirmed.

A completely corrupted Scripture cannot function as a trustworthy witness.

6. Distorting Scripture Is Different From Corrupting Scripture

The Qur’an accuses some People of the Book of distortion:

“They distort words from their proper places.”
Qur’an 4:46

And:

“They distort words from their places and have forgotten a portion of what they were reminded of.”
Qur’an 5:13

However, these passages describe the actions of people, not necessarily the destruction of the written revelation itself.

There is a difference between:

A. Corruption of interpretation:
People twist, hide, or misuse God's Word.

B. Corruption of the text:
The actual words of Scripture are changed and the original revelation disappears.

The question:

Does the Qur’an accuse people of misunderstanding revelation, or does it explicitly state that God's written revelation was completely altered?

7. The Problem of Divine Consistency

The claim that the Bible was corrupted creates a theological dilemma.

If Allah allowed the Torah and Gospel to become corrupted, then:

Question One

Why did Allah command people to follow Scriptures that were no longer pure?

Question Two

Why did Allah not preserve His earlier revelations?

Question Three

If human beings were able to corrupt God's revelation before, what prevents human beings from corrupting the understanding of later revelation?

Question Four

Why would God send a final revelation to correct a problem that He had the power to prevent?

8. Historical Evidence and Biblical Transmission

The Bible has been preserved through thousands of ancient manuscripts.

Scholars recognize that copying manuscripts over centuries resulted in textual variations. However, these variations do not demonstrate that the biblical message was destroyed.

The manuscript tradition shows remarkable continuity across:

  • Languages,

  • Continents,

  • Historical periods.

The question:

If the Bible was completely corrupted, why do ancient manuscripts preserve the same central message about God's creation, human sin, God's covenant, the Messiah, and redemption?

9. The Central Debate Question

The heart of the discussion is this:

Is the claim that the Bible was corrupted actually based on the Qur’an itself, or is it a later theological explanation developed to reconcile differences between Islam and Christianity?

Because the Qur’an:

  • Calls the Torah and Gospel revelations from Allah.

  • Describes itself as confirming previous Scriptures.

  • Commands Christians to judge by the Gospel.

  • Commands the People of the Book to uphold their Scriptures.

Therefore, the claim of total biblical corruption appears to create tension with the Qur’an’s own testimony.

Conclusion: A Challenge for Theological Consistency

If God is the Author of revelation, then His Word cannot be treated as a failed message that humanity permanently lost.

The Qur’an’s own statements create a significant theological challenge for the claim that the Bible was corrupted.

The questions remain:

If Allah protected revelation, why would He allow His previous revelations to be corrupted?

If the Gospel was corrupted, why did Allah command Christians to judge by it?

If the Torah and Gospel were unreliable, why did the Qur’an affirm them as divine revelation?

A serious theological discussion must begin not with assumptions, but with the internal consistency of the claims being made.

Truth must be examined through revelation, history, and reason.
