BIBLICAL AND QURANIC EVIDENCE:
Muslim believers have often claimed that Jesus was a Muslim. These claims have been made in their religious sermons without substantial evidence to support their claims.
Today, I will respond to these claims using the Bible and the Quran as follows:
JESUS NEVER DECLARED THE SHAHADA
According to Islamic law, for one to be a Muslim, they must declare the shahada. Jesus did not say the SHAHADA (La ilaha illallah), and there is no biblical or Quranic evidence that Jesus said the SHAHADA. Therefore, Jesus was not a Muslim.
JESUS DID NOT WORSHIP ALLAH
Jesus never prayed to or worshipped "Allah," but according to the Bible, Jesus prayed to His Father, John 17:1 These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee: The Quran and Islam acknowledge that Allah is not the Father, and there is not a single verse that calls Allah Father. Jesus was not a Muslim.
JESUS DID NOT PRAY FACING MECCA
Jesus never prostrated himself facing Mecca, a requirement in praying to or worshipping "ALLAH." Quran 2:149. Whencesoever thou comest forth turn thy face toward the Inviolable Place of Worship; and wheresoever ye may be (O Muslims) turn your faces toward it (when ye pray) so that men may have no argument against you save such of them as do injustice - Fear them not, but fear Me! - and so that I may complete My grace upon you, and that ye may be guided. 150. Whencesoever ye cometh forth turn your face toward the Inviolable Place of Worship. And wheresoever ye may be (O Muslims) turn your faces toward it so that people shall have no accusation against you, except such of them as do wrong; fear them not, but fear Me; and that I may complete My favor upon you, and that ye may be guided aright.
Now let's read about how Jesus prayed in the Bible. Where did He look while praying?
Jesus prayed looking up to Heaven. Read: Mark 6:41 And when he had taken the five loaves and the two fishes, he looked up to heaven, and blessed, and brake the loaves, and gave them to his disciples to set before them; and the two fishes divided he among them all.
In the above verse, we have evidence that Jesus looked up to Heaven where His Father is, and not towards Mecca.
JESUS DID NOT TEACH ABOUT THE KAABA
Jesus never mentioned or taught His disciples about the "KAABA," which is done by Muslims and was taught by Muhammad, the prophet of Allah.
JESUS DID NOT FAST DURING RAMADAN
Jesus did not fast during Ramadan, which is part of Islam to fast during Ramadan every year. Quran 2:183, O ye who believe! Fasting is prescribed to you, as it was prescribed to those before you, that ye may (learn) self-restraint.
There is not a single part in the Bible where we read that Jesus commanded His followers to fast every year, but we read that in Matthew 6:16-18: Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. 17 But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face; 18 That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.
JESUS DID NOT ENGAGE IN JIHAD
Jesus did not engage in Jihad as every Muslim is commanded to engage in Jihad. Quran 2:216. Warfare is ordained for you, though it is hateful unto you; but it may happen that ye hate a thing which is good for you, and it may happen that ye love a thing which is bad for you. Allah knoweth, ye know not.
But Jesus said the following about fighting: John 18:36 Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence.
In the above verse, Jesus teaches us that His Kingdom is not of this world but Heaven, so He cannot engage in Jihad as Allah commands Muslims. Jesus was not a Muslim, and He did not engage in Jihad.
JESUS SAID TO LOVE YOUR ENEMIES, WHILE ALLAH SAYS HATE CHRISTIANS AND JEWS
Jesus did not hate those who opposed Him, but He loved them and prayed for them, contrary to Allah's commands to Muslims. Read Matthew 5:44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you.
Now let's see how Allah shows hatred towards His followers. Quran 5:51. O ye who believe! Take not the Jews and the Christians for friends. They are friends one to another. He among you who taketh them for friends is (one) of them. Lo! Allah guideth not wrongdoing folk.
JESUS DID NOT TEACH TO STONE ADULTERERS
Jesus did not stone people to death, nor did He teach that adulterers should be stoned, as is taught in the Islamic religion. Read John 8:6 This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not. 7 So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.
But in Islam, we read about Muhammad ordering the stoning of an adulterer: Volume 2, Book 23, Number 413: Narrated 'Abdullah bin 'Umar:
A Jew brought to the Prophet two men who had committed sodomy with each other. The Prophet ordered both of them to be killed near the place of offering the funeral prayers beside the mosque.
Therefore, Jesus was not a Muslim, and He did not stone adulterers, but we read about Muhammad stoning people and teaching the stoning of adulterers in Islam.
JESUS DID NOT TEACH PEOPLE TO PERFORM ABLUTION BEFORE PRAYING
Jesus did not follow the ritual of washing or performing ablution before praying, as Muslims do every day. Read about Jesus in Matthew 15:2-11. But Allah practices the rituals of washing and ablution before worshipping Him. Quran 5:6. O ye who believe! When ye prepare for prayer, wash your faces, and your hands (and arms) to the elbows; Rub your heads (with water); and (
wash) your feet to the ankles. If ye are in a state of ceremonial impurity, bathe your whole body. But if ye are ill, or on a journey, or one of you cometh from offices of nature, or ye have been in contact with women, and ye find no water, then take for yourselves clean sand or earth, and rub therewith your faces and hands, Allah doth not wish to place you in a difficulty, but to make you clean, and to complete his favour to you, that ye may be grateful.
Jesus did not perform ablution before praying to His Father, as is in Islam. Jesus was not a Muslim.
JESUS DID NOT USE THE TERMS "SAW" OR "PBUH"
Jesus did not instruct people to write abbreviations "SAW" (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) or "PBUH" (Peace Be Upon Him) after mentioning their names, unlike Allah and His Prophet who teach to say this in Islam after mentioning the names of Prophets and Messengers.
Dear readers, today we have read about Jesus and His character and teachings, all of which contradict the laws and customs of Islam.
It is my hope that this journal will help you understand that Jesus did not follow Islamic customs and did not worship Allah.
God bless you greatly
