High-Powered Guns Found Hidden at Trinidad Mosque…

A high-powered assault rifle was among a cache of guns and assorted ammunition that was found on the Munroe Road, Chaguanas property of the Masjid-ul-Muttaqeen yesterday morning.

Police said at about 8.30 am, a team of workers who are currently conducting maintenance works on the ceiling in the ladies section of the mosque, found several black garbage bags stashed away in the ceiling.

The workers retrieved the bag and to their shock found the weapons and ammunition. The workers went to mosque’s office and reported their findings to Maulana Saeed, who contacted Imam Shiraz Ali. Ali then contacted officials at the Ministry of National Security and T&T Police Service.

A party of police, including Central Division Task Force and CID officers, went to the mosque and retrieved the bags, which contained two shotguns, two pistols and an assault rifle together with an undisclosed amount of assorted ammunition.

In an immediate reaction to the find, a staff member at the mosque sent out a voice message to Darul Uloom staff informing them of the find and asking that they not be alarmed. The male voice indicated that “it was no little find like little gun and thing…it was big.” He then ended the voice note by saying: “May Allah guide us…Assalamualaikum (a Muslim greeting that means Peace be unto you.”

The Masjid subsequently issued a statement saying the illegal firearms and ammunition were secreted there by persons unknown and condemned the act.

“This organisation does not condone any form of illegal activity. Those persons who planted these illegal items in our place of worship did so without the knowledge of the spiritual and administrative leaders of the masjid and our membership,” the statement read.

The administrators also gave assurance that they will co-operate with the police “in every way possible to discover the identities of those person or persons who are responsible for bringing illegal guns and ammunition into the masjid.”

It also noted that the doors of the masjid are open to all Muslims and non-Muslims and added that it has no formal security arrangements in place as it is “a place of worship where our members engage in fellowship, pray and social activities.”

With the holy month of Ramadan in its last ten days of the 30-day fast, Masjid officials said they were in shock.

Speaking with the T&T Guardian yesterday, an official, who wished not to be identified, said they asked the police to conduct a thorough search of the entire compound to ensure no other guns, ammunition or other illegal items were hidden on the premises. Asked if the find hindered fasting Muslims from coming to the mosque to break their fast after 6 pm last evening, the official replied: “No...the usual numbers came out. People expressed concern because it is normal but we are all hoping that the people behind this are caught. Allah knows best.”

An investigating officer extended kudos to the workers and the mosque’s officials for informing them of the find.

“This could have gone otherwise and by them not hiding this by itself proves a lot,” the officer said.

Asked if the find had any connection to do with the increasing gang activities and shootings between members of the Unruly Isis and the “Muslims,” the officer replied: “We have no such information. This could be an isolated incident.”

Austria to shut seven 'political' mosques and expel imams

Austria has said it will close down seven mosques and expel imams who it says are funded by foreign countries.

Chancellor Sebastian Kurz said the move was a crackdown on political Islam.

Some mosques are suspected of having links to Turkish nationalists. In April images emerged showing children in Turkish army uniforms re-enacting the World War One Battle of Gallipoli.

The Turkish president's office called Austria's move "Islamophobic, racist and discriminatory".

The Austrian government says 60 of the 260 imams in the country are being investigated, of whom 40 belong to ATIB, an Islamic organisation in Austria close to the Turkish government.

"Parallel societies, political Islam and radicalisation tendencies have no place in our country," said Chancellor Kurz on Friday.

What prompted the crackdown?

The Gallipoli re-enactment performance took place in a Vienna mosque reported to be run by ATIB.

The WW1 battle, one of the last victories of the Ottoman Empire, stopped Allied forces reaching its capital, Constantinople.

Austrian media report (in German) that the child actors played dead and were covered with Turkish flags.

Separately, Austrian public broadcaster ORF says photos of children doing the Turkish nationalist Grey Wolves greeting came from a mosque in Vienna's Favoriten district run by the Grey Wolves, a group with branches in several countries.

The government is dissolving an organisation called the Arab Religious Community. Six of the mosques targeted for closure are run by it: three in Vienna, two in Upper Austria and one in Carinthia.

In neighbouring Germany, police have been probing links between certain imams and the Turkish state, which funds a Muslim organisation called Ditib.

The Austrian authorities have been working with a Muslim community body called IGGÖ to identify mosques and imams suspected of radical Islamist or nationalist connections.

How bad are Austria-Turkey relations?

They have soured significantly in recent years.

Mr Kurz's election campaign last year drew heavily on anxiety about immigration and the integration of Muslims. His conservative People's Party (ÖVP) formed a coalition government with the far-right Freedom Party (FPÖ).

Mr Kurz wants the EU to break off Turkey's EU membership negotiations - a stance that has angered Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

In May 2017 that anger led Turkey to veto Nato's co-operation with Austria. The move disrupted Nato's partnership activities with 41 countries. Turkey is a key player in Nato operations.

President Erdogan's ruling AK Party has roots in political Islam and espouses traditional Muslim values.

He is campaigning for re-election, and both Austria and Germany are wary of his political influence in their Turkish communities.

The governments in Austria and other Central European countries - Hungary, Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Poland - want to restrict Muslim immigration to Europe.

There is friction between them and Germany, which took in about one million mainly Muslim asylum seekers in 2015.

Turkey is housing more than three million Syrian refugees and says the EU is not doing enough to help.

Human rights organizations in the Western world are turning a blind eye to the brutal violation of human rights in the Muslim world under Sharia law.

ROHO SABA ZA MUNGU

Kwanza tuanze na maana ya namba Saba Kibiblia:

Namba Saba hutumiwa mara nyingi kumaanisha ukamilifu. Kwa mfano, Waisraeli waliagizwa na Mungu kuzunguka jiji la Yeriko kwa siku saba, na kuizunguka mara saba katika siku ya mwisho. (Yoshua 6:15) Biblia ina mifano mingi ambapo namba saba imetumiwa kwa njia hiyohiyo. (Mambo ya Walawi 4:6; 25:8; 26:18; Zaburi 119:164; Ufunuo 1:20; 13:1; 17:10) Yesu alipomwambia Petro kwamba amsamehe ndugu yake “si, Mpaka mara 7, bali, Mpaka mara 77,” kurudia namba 7 kulionyesha kwamba alipaswa kuendelea kusamehe “bila kuacha”.—Mathayo 18:21, 22.

Ufunuo 1:4 inasema kwamba Roho Saba ziko mbele ya kiti cha enzi cha Mungu. Ufunuo 3:1 inaonyesha kwamba Yesu Kristo "anashikilia" roho saba za Mungu. Ufunuo 4:5 unaunganisha roho saba za Mungu na taa saba zinazowaka zilizo mbele ya kiti cha enzi cha Mungu. Ufunuo 5:6 hubainisha roho saba na "macho saba" ya Mwanakondoo na inasema kwamba "zimetumwa duniani kote."

Mtu mwenye Roho zote saba za Mungu, anaitwa amejaa Roho mtakatifu pasipo kipimo, Amejaa utimilifu wa Mungu

Roho saba ni “jinsi” saba za “tabia” na “udhirihisho” wa ukamilifu wa Roho ya Mungu katika nafsi zake zote tatu. (Isaya 11:1-3).

Kama Yesu ilivyoandikwa “yeye aliyetumwa na Mungu huyanena maneno ya Mungu; kwa sababu hamtoi Roho kwa kipimo” (Yohana 3:34).

Yesu alijaa roho zote saba za Mungu katika ukamilifu wa udhihirisho wake.

Sasa Nasisi Mungu ametutaka tujae Roho wake pasipo kimipo. Kama alivyosema “msilewe kwa mvinyo, ambamo mna ufisadi; bali mjazwe Roh”(Efe 5:18).

Hapo asemapo ujazwe Roho haimaanishi Roho anakuwa amekuacha.

Bali Anataka ujae ukamilifu na utendaji wa Roho zote saba za Mungu.

Mtu mwenye udhihirisho wa Roho ya Hekima na Maarifa unakuwa amejaa Zaidi kuliko mtu mwenye udhihirisho wa Roho ya Hekima Pekeyake.

Biblia, na hasa kitabu cha Ufunuo, inatumia namba 7 kutaja ukamilifu na kukamilika. Ikiwa hiyo ndiyo maana ya "saba" katika "roho saba," basi haimaanishi roho saba za Mungu tofauti, lakini badala yake Roho Mtakatifu kamili na mkamilifu.

Mtazamo mwingine ni kwamba roho saba za Mungu zinarejelea viumbe saba vya malaika, labda serafi au makerubi. Hii ingekuwa sawa na viumbe wengine wengi wa malaika ambao wanaelezewa katika kitabu cha Ufunuo (Ufunuo 4:6-9, 5:6-14; 19:4-5).

Vivyo hivyo, katika Isaya 11:2, inasema, "Na Roho ya BWANA atakaa juu yake, roho ya hekima na ufahamu, roho ya shauri na uweza, roho ya maarifa na ya kumcha BWANA." Hii labda inaweza kuelezea roho saba za Mungu: (1) Roho ya BWANA, (2) Roho ya hekima, (3) Roho ya ufahamu, (4) Roho ya shauri, (5) Roho ya uweza, (6) Roho ya maarifa, (7) Roho ya kumcha Bwana. Biblia haituambii hasa ni nani/nini roho saba, lakini tafsiri ya kwanza, kwamba ni Roho Mtakatifu, inaonekana ya uwezekano zaidi.

Basi tumjue Mungu sana, ili haya mambo yawekwe wazi kwetu. Naye Bwana ni mwaminifu, kama alivyosema “hata mkiwaza mengine katika jambo lo lote, Mungu atawafunulia hilo nalo”(Wafilipi 3:15)
